I would have to starve myself...

...if I wanted to see scales weight loss! I dont know why I bother to weigh myself.

I know its diet related as a couple of yrs ago, I went through a traumatic experience & due to extreme anxiety I couldnt eat. Lost 2 stone. I was exercising the same amount. That wasnt sustainable...obviously.

I exercise every day sometimes twice a day. Lift weights etc. I eat fairly ok. I know how to clean up my diet.

But seriously, I would have to eat practically nothing to see results on the scales. I know muscle weighs more than fat & I do go by clothes and generally dont weigh myself. They say as a woman when you are over 35, the weight sticks to you like glue. They werent kidding.

Starve myself as an experiment??? No thanks. I love my food

Rant over. Off to get my 14th tattoo done. MsD

Enjoy your tattoo session.

Also no need to starve , a good workout programme followed by a cleanish diet will make you see results.

If you're able to do a food diary for this week , I don't mind looking at it.

Achieving a calorie deficit is hard. Especially if you only have a small amount of weight to lose. It annoys me when people say "just cut down a little" as it doesn't work at my weight. I found it easy to lose weight when I had stones to lose. Now that it's less than a stone it is really hard work. I don't lose anything on 1600 calories a day anymore like I used to. I do have to cut my calories really low. Currently I'm varying my calories from 1000 to 1800 throughout the week but the average over the week is about 1200-1300 a day. Staying that low every day is really hard to stick to so I'm finding it easier to have some days I eat maintenance amount and others I eat really little. I'm 6 pounds down over the past month so I'm hoping I can finally shift this last bit.

I must be one of the lucky ones as I've always found that when I'm determined to lose weight I have done. I track all my calories and find it surprisingly easy to stick to 1200 calories a day... that's actually quite a lot of food. My trouble is that I'm too lazy to stick with it once I get to my desired weight and old habit sneak back in. I think op that if you know what you need to do but aren't doing it then you aren't that bothered. So why the rant?

Because I know to see results on the scales, I would have to eat practically nothing. For me..just cutting back & portion size control is not enough. I would seriously have to eat a very cal low diet per day to see weighing scale results. I did that in my 20's and saw results within a few weeks. Defo not the same now that I am in my 40's!!!

You dont need too as it woudnt be sustainable, you are better of eating at a slight calorie deficit with a good cardio program, there are no diet shortcuts.

I'm sure I've read before that too much exercise can slow down weight loss too. Might be why I've never struggled too much.

There are tacticts that could help to combat that like having diet breaks and refeed days.

It's really not a lot of food though. Not when you're trying to get adequate nutrition and protein. I've had comments in work when I'm sat there with two boiled eggs and a handful of nuts and dried fruit for my lunch. And that's a quarter of my daily calories.

I feel your pain OP.

I'm just not using the scales atm as it's very disheartening.

I'm eating around 1000-1200 calories a day and burning off between 2400-2800 a day but the scales weren't changing much. I've dropped a dress size though so I'm just going by my clothes and how I feel.

It would be nice to see the scales change dramatically though for all my hard work.

When I went vegan I had to increase the amount of food I was eating.

My lock down food hasn't been particularly healthy... I seem to have swaoed6 fruit for cupcakes... But happy to talk further in DM if you wish OP

Do yourself a favour and throw away your scales!! It's simple really.

Go by how you feel in yourself. How your clothes fit etc.

My calorie intake is very low now that I'm back to work but I cant shift the excess fat around my middle. Being peri menopausal really doesnt help.

Op, you’ve got lovely body, but only you know how you feel good.

Why not try Intermittent fasting, 5:2 is extremely effective and has significant health benefits too.

Hippy

I'd use a calorie tracking app, and don't forget drinks in that.

Though honestly, looking beautiful! Feel confident your own skin

Sometimes a body needs excercise that makes the healthy food work..you don't see fat swimmers ,cyclists or marathon runners so getting a sweat on moving around rather than lifting a designer weight is all that's needed.

My mate lost 5 stone just jogging and cycling plus rowing at the gym

Sounds like you're fit and healthy OP. You look great in your pictures so maybe you don't need to lose weight.

But, I know that weight loss is a personal thing so, if you feel the need to be lighter then only you can address that issue. Maybe exercise in the fat-burning zone more - I know very little about this but it is a thing and I'm sure others on here would know all about it.

Does it bother you that the scales don’t change OP? If you’re feeling good and know that you’re eating as well as you can and getting some exercise in? I haven’t weighed myself in a looooong time, just go by how loose/tight my clothes are. Atm they’re rather tight

Research keto diet. Amazing results and you can eat enough food without ever being hungry.

I'd love to be vegan but my biggest challenge is dairy, I love cheese too much.

That's my dilemma, I'm aware but still eat the stuff - vegan cheese isn't great though and the cost is prohibitive.

Same. I’m slimmer now at 35 than I’ve been most my life and also can’t put weight on despite wanting to.
