Not usually... some do take a scan at the initial consultation, but varies from practice to practice

That's because you can't hear all the bones clicking or trapped or whatever they're to cause back pains

Ok. And the scans are just skeletal x-rays, correct?

Ive never had a scan, they usually give you a good looking over first though before the cracking begins. Great feeling

It's rare for a practice to have a scanner better than just x-rays

I had my 1st appointment with a chiropractor. There was no scan or xray. We discussed any concerns and issues and the then he went to work. I had previously suffered really badly with pain in my shoulder and neck. In the end it was swimming that sorted it out.

For me I think I need a good sports massage..not that I play sport?

My posture is bad and once the gyms reopen I have a workout plan to correct it but I can sometimes wake up and there's pressure points in my back when I take a deep breath in. Bit like someone is gently stabbing my back under the scapula.

So the chiropractor didn't help?

I also have a trapped nerve in my shoulder, sometimes like 2-3 times a year I get a jolt through my entire body as if someone electric shocked me starting at the shoulder joint

I had something like this. The pain was unbearable. I couldn't even sit at my desk at work! The pain went kind neck- shoulder blade and down my arm..like through my funny bone. I could feel like a numbness in some of my fingers. I was necking loads of cocodamol. It was brutal!

I only went once to the chiropractor. I was going to go back but I didn't really think he could help. I get little reminders that's it just below the surface and could and probably will come back .

Those are classic symptoms of a disc prolapse in the neck. Chiropractors can help but you need to see a doctor.

Did you rest your arm over the top of your head?

I did go to the doctor and had a scan..they said stenosis of the neck...wear and tear. My 'spurs' grew down and not out (which usually happens) and can 'pinch' the nerve. I can't remember if I put my arm over my head but I tried every position possible. It was a couple of yrs ago now.

You want to see an osteopath.

I've been a few times when my back has given out - although not my back but my hips going out of alignment and wrenching all my back muscles. I could barely walk.

Osteopath sorted it out every time and advised on posture for sitting, using a computer etc.

Not all that North of North London

Go see an osteopath. Chiropractors are charlatans.

South Wales

I have recurring sciatica due to nerve damage and i see a Chiropractor for particularly bad episodes as it shortens them and makes my back more relaxed.

No x-rays with them. I have had scans with the hospital that diagnosed my back. I told the chiropractor about it when i had my assessment and they went from there.

I've had my fair share of back problems over the years, lower back, upper back, shoulders, you name it I've probably had it.

Most serious was bulging disc at back of my neck between my c7 and c6 disc. Was literally bedridden for 3 months with pain on my left arm from my delts. Pain killers didn't do anything to take the edge off the pain.

Depending on the type of back pain you have, I can say that rest is the best thing you can do with ice/heat therapy and make sure your posture is correct. Any physio that you do, make sure its stretching and nothing heavy.

I also high recommend a supplement called Boswellia Seratta it's done wonders for me. Research on it. There a brand on Amazon called Gower 2000mg capsules.

Ps,for ice and heat therapy get the gel packs that you can microwave and freeze. I used to do 20 min cold then after about an hour, heat 3 times daily.

"Go see an osteopath. Chiropractors are charlatans. "

This. Chiropractic is an occasionally dangerous pseudoscience that has been known to kill people. See a real doctor instead for referral to actual science-based medical professionals.
