Football/Olympics on T.V

Isn't it about time they had a Football only channel on T.V linked to ITV or BBC?

That way anyone interested could watch the matches and then listen to the endless after match bollox to their hearts content.

Then the regular ITV programmes wouldn't be disrupted for the sake of the Football God.

After all, they didn't have Rugby dominating T.V when the world cup was on, despite the fact that our home teams are more successful than they are at football.

It'll be the same with the Olympics and Wimbledon, now we have digital they could have specific channels for those events and leave the major channels for their regular programmes.

It seems common sense to us!

Itv need them advertiseing revenue to be honest. As for regular programmes well many feel they are a pile of shite too. Them simple answer is that its popular so them main channels want to show it. If you don't like turn over.

"Itv need them advertiseing revenue to be honest. "

That's it in a nutshell basically.

The FA are not allowed to show England's matches on pay only channels, How other countries broadcast the football in their countries is down to them but England matches will always be shown on BBC or ITV, and in ITV's case, advertising money is a very important revenue stream for them.

Having said all that, digital channels are not as expensive as the old analogue channels and if ITV adjusts it advertising targets and costs accordingly they could easily have a Football-only channel and acquire advertisers like Nike, Adidas, Powerade etc who will reach their target audiences.

I couldn't care less what the BBC does tbh.

Speaks volumes......

And lets face it, there are a multitude of other channels for people to watch if sport isn't their thing.....

actually... yes they did.... only reason why you didn't notice was because of the time difference in new zealand.... so the games were played at 3am,6am and 9am...

Its just as easy for football fanatics to turn over, why should everything stop for bloody football, why not leave the regular programmes as they are and put football on ITV4?

That way they'd get the advertising revenue from the football but surely only a few adds every 45 minutes isn't as much as the same amount every 15 minutes for popular programmes.

And its not as though its just the matches, then its the so called after match analysis.......bloody hell, you get enough of that at work the day after FFS!

or.... they could put corrie on ITV4.....

actually for the olympics.. bbc sky and virgin have come to an agreement... so that each olympic sport will have its own channel on the digital platform... so you won't miss anything from any sport going on "live"....

but there are certain events that have to be shown live on testrestial tv in the interests of "the nation"... the sporting crown jewels so to speak

I am already sick to death of the Olympics! Advertisers with products that have no link to sport other than sponsorship (McDonalds and Coca Cola spring to mind) are advertising it! Luckily, we don't watch that much telly and almost none live, so we can zoom through the adverts and just watch what we like.. Thank you TiVo (xxx) lol

So, I don't care if it is on the main channels, we wouldn't see it anyway! The news programs are gonna piss me off though!

I think youwill find both try and use them max of 12mlns an hour so NO there is not more on during your soaps. Its a little sad you moan about a tournemant that takes place every 4 years and is on far less than your jack duckworths

I've just seen what the organisers are planning for the opening ceremony on the news. Beijing gave the world something to remember 4 years ago, and in reply we're giving the world something to remember too.....

Emerdale meets fookin Peak Practice!

wtf are they thinking!! Anyone in showbiz will tell you that never work with animals if you can possibly avoid it, but our Olympic organisers seem to think they can tread on water and are having LIVE animals in the Olympic Arena with billions of people watching the whole world over. You just know one of them is gonna take a fookin dump and the cameras will beam it across the planet.
