Not if you're smarter than I at choosing the people you trust!

It hurts that I care for people who will behave badly. I come away feeling completely insignificant, all the while knowing I'm the one that has given them the power to hurt me.

The feeling is mine alone, their behaviour only impacts me as much as I allow, and right now I'm allowing far too great an impact.

I've encountered on some threads on here. I'm not one of the gang, though I try "

Oof... the only advice I can give is not to try. Post when you've something to say. Sometimes you'll get a response, much of the time you won't, but try not to let it get to you.

For me, I use this as entertainment rather than validation. The people I've met up with from this site and whose opinions matter most to me don't tend to be people who spend a massive amount of time on the forum (I try to stay away from drama where I can).

Find your own gang. Find your tribe, the people who share your views and values and humour. There's far more to this site than trying to make yourself different to fit in with someone else.

Just my two cents, of course!

It has to be a broken heart doesnt it, that encompasses all those broken trusts and lies and deceptions in one.

Unless you were a hermit someone would ?

How many times have you seen reports on the news of people being found dead in their homes, having been there for weeks or months, and no one noticed their absence or bothered to check on them if they did? I've dreaded that happening to me - for a while, I thought things were changing, but I was wrong."

I have but I do wonder if they chose to be alone and not make effort to be surrounded by family or friends or get familiar with neighbours or were they truly forgotten?

Betrayal as ex works out on the first day of her pregnancy, lies to have a miscarriage on the 3rd month. Apologises on the 8th month saying it was twins, but lost one then disappears to give birth on the 9th month then reappears finally at a distance just for money till date nearly 10yrs.

"Surely the aim of the wise is not to secure pleasure but moreover avoid pain it all its disguises ?"

eh? Avoiding pain is how you end up avoid life.

When people are isolated it's often due to betrayal, they don't want to be alone, but can't bring themselves to trust anyone.

And sweet lies, closely in a second place.

I would say you're right, closely followed by misunderstanding

When someone you care about has a closed mind or is so hurt / insecure they can’t understand. You’re doomed to be eternally misunderstood... "

I totally know what you mean about indifference. When someone is so important to you and you've given so much of yourself to them and you realise that to them you barely register in their consciousness. You can't even be mad like with betrayal as often they don't even mean harm.

You put in words so much better than me. And that ignorance of the fact they hurt you is painful in itself too.

"Giving someone or a group the power to make me feel insignificant. I think it hurts most because I'm aware *I'm* the one allowing it to happen. It cuts deeper, somehow.

Doesnt it kind of comes with the package of trust and opening up ?

Not if you're smarter than I at choosing the people you trust!

It hurts that I care for people who will behave badly. I come away feeling completely insignificant, all the while knowing I'm the one that has given them the power to hurt me.

The feeling is mine alone, their behaviour only impacts me as much as I allow, and right now I'm allowing far too great an impact."

I wish you all the strength to build the walls to protect you.. and making up your toolbox of ways to deal with these patterns..x

It is soul destroying. What is even worse is when they attempt to feign interest, not for your sake but just because it is easier for them to do so.

Deception. When someone sets out to decieve.

When you have put your trust in them and they don't trust you enough to be fucking honest or are too selfish and self centred because they want what they want and would rather lie than risk losing or not getting what they want.

Freedom of choice, people have the right to make decisions based on the truth, not a bastard lie.
