"Giving someone or a group the power to make me feel insignificant. I think it hurts most because I'm aware *I'm* the one allowing it to happen. It cuts deeper, somehow. Doesnt it kind of comes with the package of trust and opening up ? " Not if you're smarter than I at choosing the people you trust! It hurts that I care for people who will behave badly. I come away feeling completely insignificant, all the while knowing I'm the one that has given them the power to hurt me. The feeling is mine alone, their behaviour only impacts me as much as I allow, and right now I'm allowing far too great an impact.

This I've encountered on some threads on here. I'm not one of the gang, though I try " Oof... the only advice I can give is not to try. Post when you've something to say. Sometimes you'll get a response, much of the time you won't, but try not to let it get to you. For me, I use this as entertainment rather than validation. The people I've met up with from this site and whose opinions matter most to me don't tend to be people who spend a massive amount of time on the forum (I try to stay away from drama where I can). Find your own gang. Find your tribe, the people who share your views and values and humour. There's far more to this site than trying to make yourself different to fit in with someone else. Just my two cents, of course!

"Indifference, being left out and the feeling you are not missed x" That feeling of being knowingly excluded is awful.

"Anonymity. Knowing you could disappear and no one would notice, let alone care. Unless you were a hermit someone would ? How many times have you seen reports on the news of people being found dead in their homes, having been there for weeks or months, and no one noticed their absence or bothered to check on them if they did? I've dreaded that happening to me - for a while, I thought things were changing, but I was wrong. I have but I do wonder if they chose to be alone and not make effort to be surrounded by family or friends or get familiar with neighbours or were they truly forgotten? How do you surround yourself with friends when you don't have any? How do you get familiar withyour neighbours when they have no time for you? Blaming it on lack of effort is just a lazy generalisation. " It is how you wish to see it. I didnt generalise. I asked a question. I wondered out loud.
