Times are hard for some. Post your best money saving tips, I'll start.
A large Costa coffee fits in to a regular cup in the self dispensing machines, saves about 40p a cup. |

That’s not a money saving tip, it’s theft |

The fixed penalty notice for theft would probably outweigh the saving |

When your phone contract is coming to an end, shop around for SIM only deals and keep your phone. There are some fabulous deals out there. I pay £5 a month for 8 gig and unlimited texts and and data. my daughter's comes to just over £8 and she has 30 gig and unlimited social media Plus unlimited calls and texts.
Dry your clothes on one of those wire clothes dryer things it will save you quite a bit from not using a tumble dryer in the long run |

If you make your coffee at home it's about 1/20th of the price
And doesn't taste like burnt wood...mixed with coffee milkshake
X2 coffees a week costs £4-5
X let's say you drink only 48 weeks
Boom that's £200 a year.

I'm sorry I made a mistake regarding my daughter's phone contract in my above post she actually gets 6 gig of data unlimited texts and minutes and unlimited social media.
a few people have messaged me privately asking about it. So here's the details
It's with a company called voxi who uses the Vodafone network, we went through TopCashback so we actually pay £10 a month but through TopCashback got £15 back. It is still available if you go to TopCashback and look at SIM only with Voxi. It works out an effective cost of approximately £8.60
Sorry for my earlier mistake |

SHOPPERS: Take one grape to the till. It won't register on the low-tech, insensitive scales so you will get it for free. Repeat this procedure 100 times or so and you have yourself a free bunch of grapes. |

Eat before you go shopping or write a list. If you’re hungry you’ll buy things you want, but don’t need.
Also you won’t pull out of the car park munching stuff you’ve just bought, possibly avoiding a collision.... haha |

Check you sky bill regularly, I went out of the special offer period and the bill doubled. Evidently they only have to tell you they are increasing the bill when you have a broad band deal as well.
They did offer me a broad band deal of ZEROmbps to 50mbps. I had to decline their generous offer of me paying them for no broadband. |

I'm guessing it hooks into uploaded torrents and streams them as they download. |

Use camelcamelcamel before buying anything pricy on amazon, it will show if it's been cheaper and you can sign up for alerts when price drops.
Do not autoextend contracts, you are very likely to be better off swapping Internet or insurance providers, especially if you use sites like topcashback. |

I've saved over £3,000 since April by not buying costa coffee, muffins, shop bought sandwiches, drinks and taking the bus not the train.
That's my Christmas presents for my children and grandchildren paid for plus my holidays for next year. |

- Don't drink anything except tap water.
- Don't ever eat out or have takeaways.
- Don't go on holiday.
- Don't observe birthdays and Christmas. Just sit them out. Including your own.
- Don't watch TV at all.
- Don't have kids.
- Don't have a car.
- Actually wear socks and put on a jumper. Fingerless gloves are very underrated. Your home does not need to be heated to 35°C.

Don't eat out, don't order lunch or coffee, bring your own.
One take away per month.
Don't pay the TV licence
Think before buying.
Don't bother with shopping centre trips when you don't need anything, you already have enough clothes.
Own supermarket goods just as good as original brands.
Ditch the phone contract, pay out right, same with cars pay our right, forget those BMW Audi Mercedes etc.
Yes you can pay that mortgage off much quicker if you have enough brain power.
You'll save thousands of you think about it. |

Always check for potential cashback before purchasing anything. This includes retailers but also insurance, any financial products, travel, flights, accommodation and a lot more besides. Some things can be purchased online and picked up in store, still earning cashback.
The 2 most credible and popular sites are topcashback and quidco. If you know anyone who uses 1, they can explain it and may get a referral bonus. I've had c. £2-3,000 paid back. Sure, we can buy less - and not buying stuff we don't need is the most intelligent thing we can do - but there will be things we do have to buy etc.
Another tip is to make do with Freeview for television and checking if you can save money with occasional purchases via other viewing options, compared to expensive TV packages.
Repairing things yourself or exchanging your skills with others, if they can help you repair or share skills you don't have. Repairing and extending the life of goods is great for the planet and our finances. |

Turn things off, lights, televisions etc. Cool from scratch. Walk when it's possible. Always call your insurance company and ask if they can give you a better price than their renewal quote. Call your credit card company every year ask to speak to the loyalty department and ask them to review your interest rate. Wear warm stuff indoors in winter.

^ This
I joined the AA a year ago on a special rate (approx £15 per month) for their top level cover.
When my renewal letter arrived it was £45 per month
I cancelled it, let it expire then joined again via a discount site. Monthly amount now £16 |

Fiat currency. You're money in and of itself is worthless. It is only worth what you can purchase with it (purchasing power).
£100 today is worth less than 5 years ago (you can buy less with it) - inflation.
Why you now see billionaires more rather than millionaires. A million pounds is not that much money nowdays - what you can purchase with it is less. Just leaving your money in the bank means it's purchasing power decreases over time. |

My great grandmother used to stay in bed all day with the kids when there wasn't enough money to buy food. That would have been around 1910.
Story goes that my grandmother pawned the furniture while my grandfather was away during the war.
My other grandmother was one of 13 kids. She told me they went without food often
We really dont know we're born these days"
Lots of us don't but I know that there are people going without food now too. |

"Rather than use expensive ribbed condoms slip a couple of frozen peas inside a normal one.
And you also then have a handy after shag snack. "
Wasabi peas? Not sure what the reaction would be.
This deserves sending to Viz, is it still going |

First things first never and I mean ever buy stuff you can't afford.
You want it then earn it then buy it .
But !! My friend gets 1 year interest free loans and buys cars mostly old classics and turns £10k into £15-£16k then pays the chunk back so it's free money but you gotta know what your doing .

"If you want to spray your car but not sure if you'll like the the new colour.. cover the car in cling film first. If you don't like it simply peel away... "
Works for new types of foods where you're usure of the texture also....
.....plus you can use the leftover cling film accroas the toilet seat.... |

Make your own furniture
...and house, build your own car and grow your own food. Use the leaves to make clothes to cover your privates. Job done!"
Now you're getting silly, leaves would not work on the guys from fab as they all have massive schlongs apparently |

One of the first business lessons I learned - leverage low interest credit whenever you can to acquire appreciating assets, while some are looking to pay off mortgages I’d be looking to remortgage right now and build additional rooms. The cost of adding that room in 5 years will be more (inflation) plus you have 5 years of capital gain and all time low interest rates. But never ever remortgage for a new kitchen or bathroom , that’s a cost and in 5 years will lose 100% of its value |

That’s not a money saving tip, it’s theft
You may call it theft? I call it lack of training on the machine, not my fault "
It is theft if Costa are charging 40p more for a large coffee which fits into a regular cup. Just think of the millions they will have gotten away with. Well done for pointing that out. |

That’s actually pretty depressing isn’t it? I’ve been pissed about a few times and it makes my blood boil |

God knows why so many are single eh
Being tight isn't a good trait
That said there is nothing wrong with being careful.
Our motto, if you can't enjoy it whats the point in having it.
And having not had it in our early lives, we appreciate what we have now.
Enjoy it while you can.

That's a good point. A large shouldn't fit into a medium! |

I pressed the wrong button by accident and Yes the 'large' measure does fit in a medium cup |

"I've saved over £3,000 since April by not buying costa coffee, muffins, shop bought sandwiches, drinks and taking the bus not the train.
That's my Christmas presents for my children and grandchildren paid for plus my holidays for next year. "
I think we have all saved immensely by working from home |

If you are feeling cold or hot at home then your thermostat is not adjusted correctly. Sounds simple but ensure it's set at the temperature you feel most comfortable at and leave it alone! Ensure you keep doors closed in winter and open in summer. |

Shop local at green grocers, butchers & cook fresh, you'll be healthier & you'll save a fortune over buying convenience food in supermarkets and wont get tempted to buy things you dont need |
