What do you head for in the arcade

I used to love the money cascade type machine as a kid where sometimes a gentle nudge without setting the alarm off gets a coin fall.

Or I felt like I'd found a million pounds when I found money in the collection tray where someone had walked off and it had toppled after they had gone

Back in the day it was "space invaders"

Nothing like hitting the arcade, spending £20 and winning thousands of tickets, then have enough to buy a moaom and a shit keyring

The grabby machines where you spend £20 trying to pick up a soft toy that you could buy for a few quid

My very favourite arcade is The Under the Pier Show on Southwold pier.

Whimsical, bespoke machines that are utterly charming. Do visit.

Sega rally was pretty good and the one where you had a gun on a cable to shoot baddies on the screen but I can't remember the name

When I was a kid the place I live in now had huge arcades, with loads of old fashioned one arm bandits where you put 2p in and had to pull the handle down.

I would play on them a couple of times, but I'm not a gambler so I preferred to walk away with a pocket full of coins!

When I was a youngster, back home by the seaside, we used to play all afternoon on the pier. It helped that all the machines used 1/2p coins so 50p was a proper pocket full

Track and Field?

I liked the big noisy arcade cabinets. Trouble was 50p-£1 would normally last me no longer than 5 minutes, 10 if I was extremely lucky. Driving, shooting, boat simulator, skiing simulator, boxing, you name it. One weekend I also spent around £30 trying to win pokeomon plush toys from the grabby machines. I managed to get one. I was always impressed if I saw someone walk down the street with a 5ft bear or something on their shoulder.
