What were the police thinking with this arrest with everything that’s been going on lately? I do note an increase in stories like this in recent weeks, but I don’t think it’s because the police have suddenly become more ‘racist’, I simply think the media are just reporting nearly every single arrest that involves someone who’s black. I just don’t get why the police did this in the current climate. I suspect the knee on the neck has happened to many white people too, but it’s not newsworthy in the same way and doesn’t get people enraged. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-53443641 |

Probably because fewer white people have lost their lives while in the care of the police. |

Probably was standard police procedure when tackling a violent suspect. Old habits are hard to stop. Today's episode of Classic Coronation Street showed two police men tackling Jim McDonald to the ground, each of them putting their knee on his back as they tried to pin him down and restrain him before dragging him into the police van. You can see the episode on youtube. Search for Coronation Street March 18 1996. If he were any other colour it would have been controversial.
