Argghhhh
Total school girl error.
I was logged into my work Google account. Forgot
Yup- you’ve guessed it.
I then went and watched some filthy porn... stretching ass holes and everything (it was hot!)
Then it dawned on me!
Arghhhhhh!
Will it be flagged?
How red will I go in front of IT guy tomorrow?
How come it wasn’t blocked? I really thought it would be...
Help
Any advice (aside from laughter) is gratefully appreciated x |

Wipe your browser history.
Not that that makes a blind bit of difference with flags and footprints and tracking bit it will mean when you set your work Goole account to not allow porn it won't be popping up as you look for other stuff.
If you get pulled up just admit the mistake. And tell them what you've done to stop it happening again.
Then make any IT crowd really uncomfortable in the future. |

You often getting monitoring software on work computers, and definitely on a company network... but if you were only on the Google account and you can delete your history you've got less to worry about. |

Put it down to experience and if you are flagged up they will be more embarrassed how naughty you are "

That sounds too easy...
surely the google account tracks everything and flags up?
It does at work...
I’m certain I would have been able to access it at work (will never try)
So why could I at home? |

I don't know what to tell you at this point. I told you clearing the history will solve it as long as no one at your work was logged into it at the same time and happened to be watching it too. |

Been there, done that.
OP: when you say you were logged in, do you mean on the Chrome browser or were you on the google search page?
Either way, you probably want to go into your google account settings and look at the Data and Personalisation: Activity History; I think that's what the link was posted earlier... so not only delete your browser history.
Then get yourself a copy of firefox and use the private browsing mode |

I wouldn't worry about this too much.
You were on you're own computer, on your own network, on your time. At the very worst, it will show up in your search history, but you can just go to main Google page, click in the search box, find it in the drop down and then click remove.
No one is going to be monitoring what you're doing on your own computer, it's only going to be an issue if you do it on a work PC on a work network, and even then you'll likely just get a gentle reminder not to do it (the first time at least). |

That may have been the bit I was looking for... I have some stuff from 2018 when I went though turning off things.
Sure you'll be alright having deleted your history, if you use your PC for work it might be worth checking out what history is stored in your account but don't lose sleep over it. |

I’m really sorry for being so IT dumb.
So it’s about him having to go and look in my history rather than it coming up on an alert to him?
At work- it would be blocked and he’d get a list of what is blocked.
Are you saying , because I’ve done it at home, it won’t alert him? |

"If it's on your own computer/phone/tablet you have nothing to worry about.
Why?"
Regardless of you being logged into the work's google profile, unless you have signed an agreement to the contrary, your employer is "not allowed" to monitor your personal internet use. If it was in your own time, on your own network and on your own device, they would be in breach of your personal rights to monitor your internet usage.
Also, your google profile will not actively "flag" that you have visited a specific type of site. If the account was set to be aware of "inappropriate sites" then it would prevent you from accessing them.
Finally, unless you are being specifically monitored for some reason, or you are a particularly small company, the IT team is unlikely to have the time to be actively checking employees internet usage. I personally do periodic check on the users on my network, but with 700 users, it would be a full time job to be permanently checking what sites people are visiting. The network restricts the type of sites that people can visit.

Are you sure that you weren't watching porn because you heard a rumour that another employee was bringing the company's name into disrepute by having sex on the premises with the company's name being visible ?
You couldn't report it without evidence and it turned out not to be true |
