Never take a risk with your eyes - even a small delay in getting them checked can be catastrophic

I suffered a retinal detachment in early March and the surgeon at Moorfields told me that if I hadn't been operated on within 48 hours of being diagnosed (at local opticians on a Sunday, operation on Monday evening) I would likely have lost my sight in that eye permanently

A bit scary

Had someone throw a very hard ball of rolled up sticky labels into my eye at work, it shattered the gas permeable contact lens which resulted in my lens looking like an A-Z of central London...

Eye clinic were still removing fragments 6 months later.

It also resulted in glaucoma; so far I've had three operations, laser treatment and an injection of blood into my eye...

Which lead to a cataract operation, and follow up laser treatment...

Good luck!

I have a similar thing to you, lucky for me it is in my blind eye.

They numb the eye so you don't feel pain, not sure about your procedure but mine they didn't stop my sight. So you see the sort of cotton wool pad, running over your eye.

where I like to be... down south

I've had metal removed from my eye before, but it wasn't in there as long as yours has been!

They managed to simply use a magnet to get it out but due to the little rust ring it left behind, they had to drill out a bit of the eye..... its not painful but I'm squeamish with eyes so had to be retained to stop me keep moving away! The eye is a great healer and mine was back to normal within 2 days

OP..please make sure that someone takes you there & back.

You may need to have drops to dilate your pupil, which will result in light sensitivity and the inability to drive today.

Not all that North of North London

I suspect if they are investigating/diagnosing itll be unpleasant and uncomfortable rather than painful.

I've had operations on both eyes and to be honest the worst part was the investigation (an ultrasound in particular was seriously weird) but not of it hurt.

Oh and dont drive to your appointment as if they dilate your pupils theres no way you can drive home
