Love the food, love people in the countryside and love Parisians in the catacombs (dead ones). Parisians like Londoners are a truly self interested, unpleasant and rude bunch. Sure there are some nice ones just yet to meet them. Vast majority of people are great and we love France |

Blimey, we could have typed that!!
Always found the French people to be polite and friendly, but depends on how you treat them! If you don't even try to speak their language when over there, you must expect some problems. We found that if we tried and made a hash of it, they smile and most will talk in English.. Worst case, we have fun trying to understand each other!
If we strike a cord with them and they are fun, we just roll our eyes and say "Je suis Anglais".. That gets a smile! |

Could not believe last weeks report that the newly elected president was the first president to officially visit the allied war graves.......how bloody disrespectful has that been over the years. An aweful nation and so opinionated about trade with the countries that liberated them. |

having worked in france as well as motoring through to spain i love it!, got on well with fellow french workers and love the countryside and the food, but why oh why do they always try to upset us at holiday times with blockades at ports/harbours etc,and the air traffic controllers?,whats that all about eh?.
my father was a paratrooper & landed at pegasus bridge and they do remember that & say they appreciate the sacrifices made by british troops but why they want to spoil our annual holiday when we only get 2 weeks?,go and disrupt the germans!,they get longer holidays than us!. |

"well lets hope they last longer in the euros than they did in two world wars
wonder how we would have fared without the english channel"
Without the English channel we would have been totaly fecked the Germans would have swept through Britain like they did France.
Having worked in both France and Germany I found the occupants to be nice polite people.
Ah wonder what they think of us? |

I love all things French, and was working towards getting the required language proficiency in order to work there.
If money is no object, I would have a base in France when I retire, somewhere in the Loire Valley would be nice.

That's why it isn't known the world over as the French Channel. |

Have friends in France, have lived there for a bit and really had a good time. I am not keen on what I call the slightly over nationalist trait that comes across in larger gatherings as a bit arrogant but on ana one to one I really like people, country, food and customs. |

"Hate the french like the devil himself
Lord Nelsons words and i totally agree with him like the germans more "
That's a very bigotted view. French or German, I dislike nor like neither greater than the other. I don't like people who don't like me but am prepared to give most people the benefit of the doubt. |

"I am a self confessed Francophile.
do you love 'em or hate 'em? "
I have different views on different areas. The Brettons though are sexy beasts or the ones I have met are. |

Hmmm Gateaux.
"Excuse me, how much is that chocolate Gattox in the window, svp?"
"It is Gatt O not Gattox, and it is £4.10 a slice." ( imagine the £ is a Euro sign will ya)
"£4.10, four euros ten for a fancy piece of cake, bolleaux to that." |

Bit of a mute point though as in many ways its the channel that has defined us as a nation, otherwise we might still own aquitaine, or rule france or the french might own us, or for that matter if we got too powerful im sure the others would have adjusted thier focus |
