Ok, going on from the david cameron thread, whose ever misplaced one of there childre.
I lost callum in woolworth once and its the worst panice ive been in in my life/
I did misplace him at euro disney, he went to the look we waited outside and he went out a different door.
My mum left me in the cattle market and had to be told over the mike to come get me lol |

I lost my daughter then 4 at the seaside.... She had gone to The toilet with her siblings... And i was waiting up the top with her sister that couldn't manage steps...
Somehow and I don't know how, my little girl got passed me and ran the way she thought I was.... I went to get her from the toilets to realise she was gone....
On looking for her loads of people said oh yes, she ran that way.. she was heading towards the docks... Dangerous place really... I rang the police and ran after her.... I found her some 20mins and 2 miles later...
I can't tell you how terrified i was.... After that I taught my little girl if she gets lost to sit down and wait for me to find her.

went to collect my youngest from a neighbours during a torrential rain storm only to find she had misplaced the both.
After searching far and wide they were discovered in my garden, sheltering under a tree after having scaled an olive tree and a 7 foot high wall!
Never leave kids unattended. |

I once lost my 3yr old in Boots, I thought she had gone browseing with my mum, mum thought she was with me.... we found her chatting to a lady on the make up counter!
Also lost my youngest lad in Asda when he wondered off for sweets hed been told he couldnt have
both times i had my heart in my mouth, its an awful feeling |

when i lost callum in woolworths it wasnt long after the jamie bulger case and the shop opened on the main road.
He was on reigns and i passed them to my dad and he went in that split second. We thought he was hiding under the clothes rail but he wasnt. I was in such a state i couldnt even tell the security guard what colour coat he ws wearing. 10 minutes later he was being dragged by his reigns, they had found him looking at the toys  |

No there isn't, its a public place to. Cameron's daughter had gone off to the loo without telling anyone and in the hubbub of sorting out cars etc assumptions were made that she was with the other parent. Ok, a quick check should have been done but that is the brilliance of hindsight is it not?
I don't have kids but I do remember getting lost at markets etc. Was always taught to either find a police officer or stay where I was and was always found (much to my parents annoyance I'm sure  ) |

Dad once left me in Fine Fare (jeez, remember them ?)
and then by a road near Scarborough - tho in that incident it wasn't accidental
I was being 'lippy' so my dad stopped the car, put me on the grass verge and drove off
He did come back for (a somewhat quieted me) after about 10 minutes
Oh, and then he drove off from a petrol station on the German / Dutch border whilst I was in the toilet.
Do you think he maybe wanted another girl ? (or just maybe a son who wasn't cheeky ?) |

My daughter ran away once while we were in Bangkok. Longest 20 mins of my life! 
I used to get lost all the time when I was a child. Not as bad as my sister who went exploring a barn during the village show, fell asleep, and we had police and firemen looking for her. She turned up a couple of hours later wondering what all the fuss was about. |

Something similar happened to me on a school journey. I was feeling poorly and fell asleep on the beach and all the other kids just dumped their coats and bags around me. The teachers were scouring the beach and waterline for me and I was only 'found' when they decided they had to get the other children back and I was revealed as the coats and bags were reclaimed. |

When I was a baby my mum took me to the butchers and left me outside while she went in. When she came out she went home which was only round the corner. She got to the front door then realised she'd left me! She went back for me there was a woman at the bus stop pissing herself laughing at my mum! |

Thing is, with the best will your kids can go missing.
My husband and the three girls were in the garden playing, I was ironing. I went downstairs for a breather and watched them play. Our next door neighbours were also in their garden and passed sweets over the fence to the girls.
I went back indoors to put the ironing away, then went back outside. I asked where Abby (2) was. My husband said I thought she was with you. Well we searched the house up and down with rising panic and dread.
The front door was closed, besides she couldn't reach, but she wasn't in the house. I opened the door to see her standing in next doors front garden knocking on their door in her dads trainers, pull ups and a bib...she'd gone for more sweets!
19 years later I still remember that dread. |

I don't hink I was ever lost as a child but do remember at a fair grabbing hold of a mans hand and walking along with him thinking he was my Dad,turned out he was'nt! |

I've lost all three of mine at one time or another ....... One hid in the garden and fell asleep squeezed in a tight spot not easily noticeable, had police and neighbours out looking all over for her. It was only when she giggled that we found her, she woke up and thought all of us were playing hide and seek.
Left the middle one outside the grocers while I walked home with his sister and the shopping. The youngest got himself across the road to the park and disappeared off with another kid to his house, again had all the village out looking for him.
Oh and Bussy, I too put both my older kids out the car for arguing and made their father drive off without them .... those few moments abandoned panicked them into being good for the whole drive from Germany to Italy. |

I dont think anybody suggested that, Wishy. I personally think, and have expressed this above it is wrong to use incidents like this for party propaganda as they have nothing to do with somebody's ability as a politician.

No Karen, I have never done anything to leave my kids in danger. If anything I am over protective of them, too much so as some of my family have pointed out to me, but it only takes one momentary lapse of concentration and we're in the realms of Ian Huntley/Roy Whiting etc. |

Actually that is a very sobering thought and one that is prossibly very divisive. I have, besides the sins I admitted to above, always been a bit over protective with mine as a result of cases like Jamie Bulger, the Soham murders etc. Sadly sometimes that one second lapse can lead to disaster. And no parent deserves that, surely. |

I'm not Ruggers, he fucked up as a parent, not a PM on this one. I'd criticise anyone who 'lost' a kid in this stupid fashion, it simply shouldn't happen. |

I rememeber when my youngest was only 4yrs old, she was in the front garden andt i went into get her an ice lolly from freezer. In less than 2 minutes she had dissapeared. We search everywhere and was in a blind panick. Was about to phone police when she comes toddling out of the neighbours. Was never so glad to see her, but at the same time was livid with neighbour as she was bound to have heard us screaming her name everywhere.

my worse one was when my middle daughter was about 3 we was stood on the bus station after shopping and the bus pulled up and as i bend down to pick the shopping up my eldest got on one bus, the right one, my other daughter got on the wrong one, i got on and paid turned round to get the girls before i sat down and only one was there, i got off the bus looking for her but loads of buses was pulling in and out she was nowhere to be seen, the bus she got on had gone, someone on the bus noticed she was alone and crying and told the driver, he called the police but because she was to young to tell them her address etc it took them hours to get her back to me, the driver had called a different station to the one i called so took a while to match her to me, its a horrible feeling i actually passed out at one point  |

Happened to me earlier this year...was collecting the kids from school and my son's teacher wanted a word so I said to my twin girls to stay by the wooden train ( was right beside where we were talking) could see them running around me,when finished talking could only see C ,A was nowhere to be seen.Had all the parents and teachers looking ,about 15 min later word comes back she was found about a third of the way home.she had lost sight of me and assumed I had left without her so she crossed at the crossing guard with a group of mums and kids and started on the paths home.she was found crying and brought back...she was 4 1/2...worst 15 min of my life |

One of my worst fears. Took them to the arboretum in walsall the once and the play area is big enough that if they decided to play on different things, I wouldn't be able to keep track of both.
After losing sight of one for a panic-filled few minutes, I had to pull em to one side and drum into them why they should stick together |

It was 3 weeks after having my first son, I went to the local wool shop, picked a pattern and some wool to make him a cardy, then went into the chemist to buy baby milk, got home and put the kettle on to boil some water for his bottle, all the time thinking that I had forgotten something, I racked and racked my brains but couldn't place what I had forgotten until I had made his bottle and went to feed him, he was still in the wool shop
Another time was a couple of years later, I was going to visit my Mum as I did every Monday, I had not long had my second son and had a double buggy, now in those days (26 years ago) you couldn't get on a bus without folding your buggy down, trying to hang on to the baby and the 2 year old, a very kindly middle aged lady offered to hold my youngest whilst I collasped the pram, she boarded the bus and the driver closed the doors and promptly drove off, leaving me and my eldest at the stop, admittedly he only went about 100 yards before he stopped but I have never felt so much panic in all my life |

as i said before there is a difference between losing and leaving your kids, kids often dissapear and its scary as hell, parents shouldnt. |
