Smart scales are bullshit, body fat readings they give are nowhere near accurate.
Calipers indicate my body fat around 19%. Smart scales have indicated as high as 33%.
Hydration, when you last ate, need a wee, all massively affect these type of scales |

Fat mass 22.6%, if I were a burger I was a shitty one! |

You want about 20% fat in a burger so not too bad |

"...and I learned that my BMI index is 25.
I goggled it and I’m fat!
Do you know anything about BMI index?"
BMI is bull shit, I’ve read of athletes in prime shape and health being classed as obese |

I dont have smart scales but on the subject of BMI it is arbitrary. When I left the Armed Forces I was fit as a flea and had no body fat at all and had a six pack. I am 6' tall and when I left the Forces weighed 12 and half stones. Shortly after I left I had to go to my GP for something and he asked me to step onto the scales in the consulting room. My weight had dropped to just over 12 stones. He said according to his guidelines I was obese!!!!! WTF is that all about. BMI isnt a good reflection of health and good body regime.
I wonder what the GP would say now if he knew my current weight of 15 stones??? Lol |

Really is that what you learned ??
What you should have learned
Is
If at 81 kg you have little muscle because you are sedentary
You would be borderline healthy to slightly above
This means
If your sedentary without much muscle your health would statistically benefit from a tiny amount of fat reduction
You should have also learned that if you train and have muscle you are indeed at a statistically healthy fat state and not overfat
The facts are there and very simple to understand
My BMI is 24.5
I'm less than 11 percent body fat
I dont get the obsessed nature of trying to dis respect the BMI concept
Is it to justify extra fat
If you are comfortable carrying fat over and beyond statistical analysis that's fine
BMI is pure statistics
A simple guide for health
Being a borderline is telling us nothing more or less than if you add more body fat than muscle from this point you may increase your risk of adverse health
Or conversely if you lose a tiny tiny amount you may statistically have a more healthy future life
It's really not rocket science
It's an introduction to an education about being body aware
Most of us who the BMI is not the best guide are usually nutritionally and exercise clue ed up and do not need the BMI
It's for the mainly sedentary as a bench mark

It's useful at a population level, not an individual level, but it's used for individuals because it's cheap.
When I have low muscle mass I know mid-high healthy BMI (or slightly above) is where I feel healthiest. With muscle mass, forget it, I'm fit as a fiddle and technically obese. |

yeah it's Bullshit... athletes have lots of muscle mass etc. Etc.... wait a minute... what's everyone's muscle mass? Hmm
Overweight is overweight... the research clearly links to the impact... go with the flow and shrug it off. Or maybe loose some weight? Up to you. |

"Its okay as a guide, obviously if you have muscle it weighs more then fat.
Take it with a pinch of salt and use common sense by looking down "
Muscle weighs the same as fat, it’s just more dense meaning it takes up less space! |
