We would be interested to know people's thoughts on winks??
We regularly use them and we believe they work as a great ice breakers however lots of profiles say they completely ignore winks.
We completely understand a message takes more time and thought which is fine and with us and a wink normally leads onto a message.
I suppose the question im asking is if we winked at yiu would you ignore it?? |

Depends on profile for me. I have had meets from winks before so know they can work and act like "ice breakers" as you said.
Some profiles do say don't bother winking etc I don't really do them as much. Having said that I had a wink recently and I winked back
The lady then went from my hotlist to friends list, but now I don't have anyone in my hotlist |

I'd definitely not ignore a wink from you.
To me a wink gets me to look at the person's profile, which tells me much more about them than a message would.
If I like what I see, then I know I can send them a simple message or just a wink back.
So I like them. They seem efficient.
I just don't use them as I think some people find them a little rude. |

We more than often do message people who catch our eye and occasionally wink as well. Its just interesting to hear people's thoughts as like I mentioned we look at every wink and message. |

I think the wink is really just a hangover from early dating sites. In princple it allows you to focus on people who express an interest. In practice it was a BS way of saying "Look - They are interested!! Subscribe NOW to find out their full details...". Part of the mechanisms to create content and pseudo interest to draw punters in. Its really obvious on a site like Fab were most functionality is free. Check inbox, Search for people YOU like, see who searched for you, check friend invites, check who has fabbed you, check winks, check who has even looked at you, check you still have will to live... One or all of those are STILL used by lots of sites as a premium pay only function.
And yes, of course, if a wink comes from the right person we acknowledge it. Once we have seen it |

They can work as a decent opener!
I received a wink yesterday from a couple very close-by to where I was and it led to a chat... and a very nice (safe, socially-distanced) meet on the beach. With the strong likelihood of an in-depth follow up |

We use the winks and if we get them it is a good wag to have a look at someone's profile, we wink back if we like or send a message. I know some people think it's lazy but we just think it's a good way to show you like someone/s xx |

I use winks a lot. It's a way of saying a quick hello I am interested, If you get a wink back then I start messageing. I only wish others seen it the same way. I do actually say this in my profile but don't think anyone reads that far into my profile. |

They’re underrated in the sense that’s it’s a quick way to show your interest. Unfortunately they’re pointless with non site supporting profiles as the user can’t see them.
Personally I do use the feature but feel the wink gets lost most of the time in the plethora of other winks. |

I imagine they're more useful as icebreakers/ showing appreciation when coming from women/couples. As a man, I suspect winks get lost in the crowd, or deleted without consideration, 99% of the time. |

I love to receive one.
I don't think it harms to send one either.
At least there's some sort of starting point.
If you're a male on here you might be lucky to get a response 1 in 10 messages sent, 3 out of 4 of those say that they're not interested.
Winks cut the crap

I look at winks but if they’re a long way away I usually just delete them rather than investigate further.
I always investigate further after a message though. |

I use winks as a way of saying great profile. If they wink back then I will send a message thanking them for the wink back along with a detailed introductory message.
I do also send messages but I also think the wink has its place. |
