I was folding freshly laundered bed linen and thought I should really iron these...but I'm not a fan of ironing!
I know some iron everything...I mean all sorts ..socks even!
What's that about?
Are you the kind who irons socks or do you have an iron aversion? (it really is a thing)

ironing urgh. It's one of those things that I rarely do, I mean really really rarely. But... when I have done it and I've smashed the shit out of it, I do feel like I've been mega productive and quite proud I've stuck it out!

What sort of psychopath would enjoy ironing? Apart from old grannies. They enjoy ironing their net curtains and doilys and stuff. Not sure how it's even spelt. Those things only exist as a vague memory and in the houses of a few surviving grans. Different breed. |

In a ball gown because that's how we roll in N. Devon |
I have to iron bedding for the holiday let, and that's stressful enough. No other ironing unless necessary here. But I do actually enjoy it so once I get started on clothes I do them all |

They were a different breed. I have such memories of that generation

I iron as I go along. If I’m going out, the clothes get ironed that I am wearing. But everything else is creased but folded maybe somewhere |

" Those grans were proper grans. They look like they are grans. When they are sixty, they actually look as if they are 100. Looking at a photo of my gran at 60 and comparing her with my mum now who is a shade below 60, my gran looks like she could be my mum's gran. |

I quite like ironing, as chores go, but I always have better things to do so it usually gets farmed out to my ironing fairy where 'magic happens'. Covid has stopped this, so my latest ploy is to fold things perfectly then use the weight of the own ironing pile (currently around a meter high) to flatten all the creases out. Works brilliantly |

Ugh it's brutal. I iron all my shirts for work. And t-shirts if they are looking crushed.
But I don't get people that iron underwear and all sorts haha.
It's so time consuming and boring. The worst is if you leave it for 2 weeks. End up with 10 shirts to do |

I only iron things like tshirts, shirts or cotton/linen dresses. My mum was excessive. She ironed tea towels, bedding, pyjamas, etc. Even leggings! Fair enough if it made her happy but she just seemed to moan about how much ironing she had to do all the time. |

I used to iron everything, because my mum always did so I felt like I had to as well. It was the bane of my existence and with 4 kids it was a never ending chore. Almost 3 years ago, during a particularly challenging time in my life, a very good friend told me to stop ironing & just fold/hang everything as it came out the dryer/off the washing line. I took her advice and now I only iron things that absolutely need to be ironed.

Ironing is never ending when you have a family and my mom was like yours.
I do what you do fold or hang them straight up. Some I tumble dry and the creases just drop out. |

All over the place! Northwesr, , Southwest |
I strangely find it relaxing, especially when ironing my shirts usually to the sound of music.
I won't go to the extreme of ironing everything like socks or underwear though. |

I only iron if I'm leaving the house. I can not be bothered with ironing anything else. Oh actually I lie! I have sometimes ironed curtains and when I used to blog I would iron bedding for photos. But these days it's just outfits. |

Blogging I don't know much about this. But for photos I'd also iron |

Now and then I might iron school uniforms but more often then not ill just spray with water and chuck thru the tumble dryer for 15mins. My son is a bit of a perfectionist and irons his stuff and sometimes I can get him to his sisters |

I used to have 3 lots of uniforms to iron, I don't miss that!
I guiltily use the tumble dryer to get rid of any creases |

I don't iron. I look at clothes in a shop, and if they look like they will need ironing after washing, I don't buy them!
I mean, I can iron, and I will iron if I absolutely can not avoid it. But I do everything in my power not to. |

"I iron barely anything. What a waste of a life!"
Agreed. It feels like a waste to me. But I can understand others that want nicely pressed clothes. So would I, especially if someone else was doing the ironing |

After living with someone who insisted on ironing everything I’ve gone to the complete opposite end of the spectrum. Hang it up to dry the right way and your body heat takes care of the rest when you put it on |

"I only have my iron for my patchwork quilt sewing. Don’t iron clothes at all. "
I had patchwork quilts made for my 2 grandkids. They had their names on and designed just for them. They looked great, still have them and will keep them. They are like a piece of artwork. |

I don’t mind ironing. But I’m only going it for one. I wouldn’t like to do a whole family. One thing I don’t like is hanging out washing. Especially pants and socks. The fiddly stuff. I put them in the tumble dryer. Even on a nice drying day lol. |

I only ever iron my husband's smart shirts, and thankfully that's not very often at all, (funerals, christenings and weddings).
I don't have the time nor the inclination to stand and iron.
My Mum on the other hand irons everything, even tea towels and socks. |

What a lovely thing for them to treasure. Someone I follow in regards to quilting tutorials describes them as hugs from a loved one. |

I was traumatised by the child labour I provided in ironing every fucking thing in the house. Even when I was in early labour with my son (I was 16), my mother had me ironing fucking pillowcases and it was about 40°C and I nearly melted.
I think my intention to never iron ever again is directly related to the experience above |

My dad used to love ironing but he'd do it properly so if you wanted something doing to go out in you had to give him about three hours notice, bless him.
I try to do as little ironing as possible these days |
