What’s your main motivation for starting a thread, is it to draw attention to yourself, to get more people looking at your profile so more people fab your photos thus sending you up the charts to page one, or maybe it’s cause you are genuinely interested in what people’s favourite colour is, or is it so you can do intellectual wheelies on a subject you read about 10 minutes again. So what’s your primary motivation for starting a thread, maybe it’s none of these excellent examples I stated, who knows it maybe cause you need to know more about something, or maybe you think the lounge needs spicing up with some healthy debate, even though no ones ever said ‘ You know what, I didn’t see it like that, you’ve open my eyes to a new way of seeing this subject, I was wrong and indeed you were correct, my sincere apologies. I will learn from this and try and be a better person in future!’ |

General musing, interest in something or just trying to open dialogue normally. But it’s a mix and match of everything. I do enjoy the ones started that are genuinely thought provoking as much as I enjoy the mindless flirting and having a laugh. |

Not a massive thread starter but usually because I have a genuine interest in something or because I need some help with something.
And getting into the spirit of the forums because it would be very quiet if no-one started any threads. |

Not everyday, yesterday I didn’t start a thread at all, mainly cause I was extremely busy. But don’t presume you know what’s going On in people’s lives, in this incredibly difficult time, what with people Losing their jobs because of the pandemic and using the forums as a way of escape. But I’m so pleased for you that you have other things going on for you, that’s great.
The irony wasn’t lost on me when the example’s Alanis Morissette gave in the song ‘Ironic’ Weren’t actually irony, which in itself was ‘Ironic’, maybe she knew that all along.

An idea pops into my head and I go you know what I'll start a thread on that. I post and watch what happens - it will either disappear, be mocked, engaged with, sometimes its a bit Leftfield, sometimes not. It is interesting watching the ebb and flow of threads and the tangents they can take. Or just disappear completely.
Another reason is I like writing and love the English language and I find it fun throwing stuff out there.

Yep this is a form of escape for me as well.
And it's good to moan because if you didn't then others may not go hang on I think he's right, let's start some different threads, which in turn may bring in and/or encourage others to contribute.

I rarely start threads. I don’t give it much thought either. The last one I started was about Twitter and I just wondered what others experiences of twitter were. Nothing deep - but I did reply to everyone on the thread and not just the hot tottie |
