Mine didn’t, although my c-section scar is also tiny, so fuck knows how he got out of that either! I was 4cm dilated and genuinely thought I was gonna die |

I remember being absolutely gutted when O was breech and couldn’t turn (my uterus is the shape of a love heart, I’m fabulous) because I wanted a natural water birth. Fuuuuuuck that! |

"That hole is tiny! How does a baby get through that?!"
It dilates to the size of a bagel (outer ring) or a dairylea cheese triangle box wheel thing. Whichever is easiest for you to visualise. Haha
Babies skull is also not fused and squashes a bit on the way out.
Also yes I also felt like I was going to die, the pain is horrific. The cuddles afterward with a squishy newborn make up for it though |

Part of me is very curious and wants to look for birth videos to see what they look like in real life and how it looks when it dilates. Part of me is scared I can't un-see it.

With my youngest it went wrong and trying to get the epidural in was the worst pain I’ve ever felt in my life. I can’t even describe it! Eventually got it in, I then wasn’t pushing hard enough coz I wasn’t getting the feeling so they mentioned a C section which scared the shit outta me so did one almighty push and it was so much that I fainted! So I was rushed to theatre anyway as her heartbeat slowed right down coz I fainted. It was an absolute nightmare all round!!!! |

You won't really see the dilated cervix, there arent many women that will let you near her during transition 7-10cm for a picture of her cervix haha. Transission is the most painful and intense part of labour, contractions are long, and strong sometimes overlapping with no break. It is however the shortest phase of labour lasting between 30minutes to 2 hours. But after transition comes "pushing" and birthing, so again not a fun time haha |

How did you manage that?
I've only seen mine on a screen when I was having laser cell removal "
When I had that I didn’t look! They said you can watch on the camera if you like. I just said nah I’m good thanks! |

"It dilates to 10cm during labour. "
Not always my first baby was at 9cm due to the part cervix being removed, my second I got to 8cm after second cancer removal
10cm is ideal however it's possible to have a natural birth with less

Try putting a balloon neck over a mellon...
Birthing videos are far too fluffy.. it's so much worse - I only have one as I was petrified to have another after that trauma!! |

Good choice. They're not pretty. I'm not very squeamish and happily watch as I get blood taken or I watched the screen when I had electrodes poking around inside my heart. However the sight of my cervix, especially when it bled was pretty grim! |

Yes this is true, a 6lb+ baby will get through what it wants to get through 8/9/10 makes no difference to them, they are coming out haha xx |

I've gone from needing to be held down (to get a needle) to cringing and biting myself. Years of work. |

Ouch! It sounds it!
I had one because I had been having contractions for over 24 hours. 36 hours in I was exhausted so they gave me an epidural to let me sleep....No other pain relief work, pethidine and entonox just made me puke, the bath gave me pains, so epidural was the only thing left, after a couple of hours sleep I was woken by the nurse as his heartbeat dropped as he was distressed...while I was being assessed for C-section I finally started getting the urge to push, no more epidural as I needed to feel to push.
A few months later I went to the Dr with chronic back pain, he confirmed that it was caused by the epidural, 26 years later I am still having problems |

I planned a waterbirth and ended up with sn epidural! I must have not been sat quite right when they did it because it didnt take in my right butt cheek so all the contraction pain concentrated itself there! So half an hour later the anesthetist came and gave me some more, leaning me slightly to the right!
All good until after the birth when my left leg got the feeling back a while before the right leg- weirdest feeling ever!! |

I’ll never forget getting wheeled into the labour ward calm and with a massive smile on my face when I was having my daughter.
I was greeted in confusion By the midwives asking how I could be 8cm dilated with a smile on my face!
It was only cod I’d spent the last 3hrs in triage being told I wasn’t in labour and having contractions in the canteen after having been sent away for a walk to ‘try to bring on some sign of labour’.
There were zero smiles after my waters broke at 34wks and I had an emergency section for my son, I can tell you that |

Some of you ladies having births at home are brave
My wife had a major bleed after delivering my son in hospital and required immediate surgery. Scariest moment of my life watching her slump and pass out the colour drained from her face.
None of the staff saw it happen, but when I shouted they hit an alarm at what happened next was impressive. 11 nurses and doctors were in that room that knew exactly what they were doing and she was taken to surgery immediately. My new born son was thrust into my arms and suddenly the room was empty, just me and him, with me wondering if I had just become a single Dad...
Luckily they saved her although her recovery took a long time, she was very sick and weak from blood and iron loss.
Had she been at home she would have died before an ambulance could get her to hospital. I'd never advise anyone to have a child anywhere but a hospital given the choice. |

Didn't have that thank goodness...But I beleive they don't give them nowasays unless absolutely necessary
I suffered carryng my 2nd, could barely walk as the pain was that bad.
He was born completely natural, no pain relief or intrusive medical equipment and his labour and birth much easier. |

Love me a birth story!
I ended up being induced with both of mine. My hormones go into overdrive, had terrible SPD in both pregnancies to the point of needing a wheelchair. Plus side is, both shot out with around 5 mins of pushing, and I was able to walk out of the hospital both times.
Our bodies are amazing!
.
However, Mr has had snip now as I simly CAN NOT deal with being pregnant again! give me the birth over pregnancy any day! |

I birthed my little one in 2.5 hrs... Waters broke at 7.30pm and she was born at 9.54pm.
I don't think even the nurses on the induction ward clocked on to how quick things were moving. |

I have to say I was petrified of pregnancy and labour but it really wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I found pregnancy a breeze and after they broke my water I delivered my daughter within 3 hours with only one tiny tear that didn't require any stitches. I'd say the worst part was the sweep and back labour that I had for two days after they induced me.
I know some women have a terrible time during pregnancy but I just thought I'd throw my positive experience out as maybe one person might feel a little better
hearing of an uncomplicated pregnancy.
It's definitely not easy but it's so rewarding. |

My first son was traumatic 16 hours and then they decided I needed an epidural so they could check his oxygen levels.
All I remember is a huge knitting needle like contraption.
The peeped me and took me to theatre just incase and he was born with forceps.
My second son was gas and air only. He was breach and born hand first. The male Dr asked if I wanted to shake his hand! Only a man would do that!
My 3rd son nothing at all it was so quick, I nearly had him in the car park! |

Ladies isn't it amazing what our beautiful bodies can do.
My birth wasn't great but a means to an end, 4 days in first stage back to back labour, then 18 hours on second stage and just over two hours of pushing, room full of people, I was put in stirrups and I remember the words "we may need to cut you to help" those words spurred me on, suddenly didn't feel so exhausted and within two pushes he was born. No cuts needed and no tearing luckily. I pushed like my life depended on it. Baby was born a little shocked and he didn't cry immediately and I remember my heart stopped all I wanted to hear was a cry but then from the other side of the room after some help and a rub in a towel he started crying.
It funnily hasn't put me off wanting a second one day maybe haha I just love squishy newborns too much haha |
