Hi Brothers, so I have somewhat of a dilemma...
I have two children and have finally officially amicably split with the children's Mother.
I know I do not want any more children but very apprehensive about a Vasectomy.
Can anyone shed any light on it and/or advice please...
Just reading the NHS page on it made me feel the nausea feeling like when you've been hit in the balls or been winded ![](/icons/s/2/eh.gif) |

99% of people have mild discomfort nothing more.
I'm the 1 % who got an infection in my nut sack and it swelled up to the size of a coconut, don't let that put you off though ![](/icons/s/mrgreen.gif) |

I've been there and back again!
Vasectomy was all straight forward, tiny bit of discomfort for a while and no problems.
Then, a few years later after meeting the new Mrs, had it reversed. Now THAT was a whole different ball game (pun intended!), with a general anesthetic! ![](/icons/s/eek.gif) |

Think it’s a lot more than 1% that got an infection as most guys I’ve spoken to has got an infection afterwards.
I’m not going to lie to you, it was not a really nice experience but for 15 minutes of discomfort that you’ll soon forget it’s well worth it. |

Nothing to it. Had one a couple of years ago.
Didn’t feel the anaesthetic needle, the initial cut or anything other than a strange tugging feeling on first ball but nearly hit the roof when they moved to second one. There wasn’t enough anaesthetic so they had to add a bit more.
Spent 2 days resting with pain killers - had no bruising, no swelling, no pain.
Also - worth contacting your doctor for some Anxiety pills. I took a few diazepam beforehand and that helped make it much less stressful.

I had mine 8 years ago, through my gp, they will base it on your age how ma y children and circumstance, it was a simple 45 min procedure, all numbed up 2 cuts in the sack the only thing I felt was the small pi ch as he cut my pipes, next few days lower belly ache swollen balls half a black cock lol, tight tight pants plenty fluids and no heavy lifting or fast moves. |

I had mine years ago, it was done in hospital as a propper surgery. I went back to work after lunch. There was a bit of pain when they did it, but not horrendous. They gave me some pain killers to take at home but never needed them... the bruising was quite impressive though We had sex (gently) the next day, but I didn't ride my bike for two weeks.

In common with most others, I had no problems. A simple procedure with local anaesthetic, never felt a thing. Done in my lunch hour then back to work. No swelling, bruising or pain and had sex a couple of days later - admittedly carefully!
That was 35 years ago, and I've never regretted it and rarely had to use a condom. The only down side is that now at the age of 66, I'm no longer a heavy cummer, though that could be an age thing anyway.
If you're thinking it's time you had it done, then you definitely should. |

Pain wise I would say like mild tooth ache for a few days but no more than that.

There’s two options you can have them under local at your GP surgery
Or
General anaesthetic at the local day surgery unit and then you wake up and it’s all done.
The best part is you have to wank into a pot for a few weeks so we can test if it’s worked.
Either way should be quite painless and over very fast.

Man the feck up! I've got 2 bricks and a tissue with your name on it!!
In all seriousness though, my ex husband had it done, dropped Holm off in the morning, picked him up in the afternoon, gave him fuss for the rest of the day, next day he was out drinking and watching the rugby! It was a little discomfort but not so much that it made him cry! You'll be fine, my lovely x |

Had mine a couple of years ago no problems at all and no real pain to mention. I was camping the weekend after and back on horseback within a fortnight! You have to go a few months before you get the all clear for no condoms. But in my case it’s totally worth it - no worry of kids messing up my life ! |

I was one of the unlucky ones with complications but I’m ok now. Initial needle isn’t pleasant but I’ve felt worse pain. The worse part for me was that the anaesthetic didn’t work on one side so when he opened me up I felt it.... my god I felt it!
Afterwards I ended up with an infection but that was under control soon enough then I developed a lump. I was scared daft by it but they are quite common and mine has now gone.
Worse part of it all however was taking my fresh pot of jizz and hading it over to the rather cute looking girl at the path lab! |

Had mine chopped many years ago, worst buy was removing the tape he’d strapped them up towards my stomach with, every now and then I get a bit of achey ball, like once a year, but other than that no issues whatsoever.
More pro’s than cons if you ask me. |

Love the 2 bricks and tissue comment from Kat666400! I had a vasectomy a couple of years ago, and seriously it's mostly discomfort rather than pain, and that passes quickly. Certainly a lot faster and less painful than more kids! ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

I had mine done in the 'No scalpel clinic'; basically they use a heated prong to burn a hole in your scrotum, and cut and cauterise your vas deferens. It sounds awful, but honestly, was no bother at all, no pain, just some mild discomfort as others have said. Had the appointment on a Friday morning, took it easy all weekend (milked it all I could tbh), then back to work Monday morning ![](/icons/thumb_up.png) |

Have a second cysts so another operation.
Best advice is drove the boxers boys and go back to some thing more supotive.
On the day I went with Speedos support and tite = no pain and comfort
All the best. |

I’ve got it done at 40 after I separated from my wife and already had two beautiful children. Never looked back not sore. Support underwear is my advice and Crack off a few wanks empty your sperm bank and drive on then. But my head was a big problem no more kids that’s the thing I got a bit emotional Ye have to get your head around never mind your cock. All good now though. Riding like a race horse and no worries. Under 40 don’t bother with it. ?? |

"Did people go NHS or private? I'm wanting done but during covid times I'm thinking private is the only option. Any recommendations?"
It's worth checking what your local provider is anyway as we've had people pay privately who would have been entitled to be treated by us on the NHS if they'd gone through their GP. |

Thank you Lacey, I'm ok to pay private and know the NHS is creeking at the moment, I would also like to have it done fairly quickly as I'm an impatient bugger. Because I work for my own business private would also allow me to arrange a date that suits both myself and the business. If you know any places local to the Widnes area it would be appreciated. |

Honestly where I work its not really any quicker apart from saving you having to get a GP appointment to get the referal. Apart from when non-urgent surgery was cancelled, we usually have people done within a couple of months depending on how flexible they are with appointments. Some can be done within a month even if our availability lines up with theirs. Also private and NHS have the same appointment availability at my place so it doesn't really make any difference. I know that isn't the same everywhere though as we had to put on some extra lists in south Wales as the NHS provider there was an NHS hospital and they had a waiting list of 2 years so we got paid to help them clear it. Some places perform them in GP surgeries. So it's definitely worth phoning your GP to ask who the local provider is first before you pay for it. |

Mr Racer had his a few years ago. Few days discomfort and trying to not get the kids to climb on him! Apparently the nurses were impressed with his wet shave job, which was his most embarrassing part of the whole ordeal.
Be prepared to explain why if needed. He was under 30, so they asked him every question under the sun including "what if you wanted another child, if one of your children died?". Gobsmacked. Apparently "because pregnancy fucks my wife's hips up and she nearly snapped her pelvis" isn't enough reason for a couple not to want more children. ![](/icons/s/rolleyes.gif) |

I had a Non Scalpel procedure done privately.
£400 and it was quick and pain free.
I felt a tugging sensation which wasnt pleasant but not painful at all.
And that's the good news.
The bad news started a few weeks post operation.
Its a long story i wont write here but it ruined my sex life for over a year and if i could turn back time i wouldnt have the operation it destroyed many things in my life |

I did it through the NHS. Since it's a short procedure, the only difference I can see if you go private is how long it takes to get an appointment. |

Had mine done through the NHS but the operation was done at a private clinic.
I had the bloody apprentice do the operation on me!
Didn't give me enough numbing juice and started cutting while i could still feel things!
The nurse noticed when my toes curled, she held my hand through the rest of it, which only lasted 10 mins at the most.
I was a little sore for a few days and my nutts were black but apart from that i was good
I even managed to get a boner while the ex wife was having a look ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

"Really...."
Yes, it was a junior doctor who carried out the operation under supervision of a senior doctor.
They gave me the right amount but for some reason it didn't work.
It wasn't too bad, sharp pain and a bit of tugging until the anesthetic kicked in.
Was all over pretty quick.
I look back at it now and laugh but it wasn't funny at the time. |

I hated my experience. I was high as a kite on diazepan. Which they gave to me to take prior to the procedure. It was uncomfortable as it is but I remember they sent me home straight after and I was waiting for my ride but my then mother in law found me slumped outside the clinic against the fence. Next thing I know I woke up and I was in hospital. How I got there.. I had no idea at the time |

I had it done on a Saturday morning and by Monday evening I was bouncing away in a mosh pit at a gig in Liverpool with no discomfort whatsoever.
The actual surgery itself isn't even that bad either, go & get it done - it will do wonders for your peace of mind. |

I had one years ago, again, I fell into the 1%, balls went black and swollen to the size of my first, really unpleasant for a few days.....BUT, still a good move, knowing now what lay in stall, I'd still go back and get it done.
A few days to a week of unpleasantness is worth it in my book for a lifetime of certainty |

Had it done a few years ago and it's absolutely grand. Weird tugging sensation and that's it. Good excuse to wear baggy tracksuit bottoms, lounge around the house and skip leg day for a bit.
By way of left field contrast getting laser eye surgery was much, much weirder and with longer recovery time. |

Had my vasectomy done 25 years ago in my GPS surgery under local and the old fashion way with the scalple in at 11 out at 12. Back at work that afternoon wearing a pair of my now ex wife's Sloggi maxi knickers for support and some co codamol for pain
I had no problems whatsoever just some bruising and i never felt any less of a man afterwards and once the sperm samples were clear the sex was fantastic . So if anyone is thinking of the snip go ahead and get it done you may even get id done on the NHS if you meet the criteria |

Had mine done 7 years ago and just felt like someone was pressing gently on one of my nuts for a couple of weeks but that might be linked to the slight discomfort from when he stuck the needle in for a second time.
Other than that, I did chuckle with the nurse when she sucked my cock into industrial vacuum which was sucking away the smell of laser work! ![](/icons/s/mrgreen.gif) |
