I think in old skool swinging this was the case, but like everything, I think it’s very much evolved. Nowadays, relationships and sexuality are completely different and the majority of swingers do have standards! |

I think that it can be the case - several of my friends before have said they haven't had to be attracted to the person to have sex with them, it was more of a heat of the moment thing. Maybe your friend meant it in that way? I do think for the majority of people looks are important though. |

Maybe.
I think there are three general kinds of people when it comes to attraction. The ones who aren't interested at all in how someone looks but are attracted to general attitude, personality etc. The ones who wouldn't think of having sex with someone unless they found them physically attractive. The ones who just want sex and don't care who with.
Of course there are loads of variables within those three but your friend has probably had their fair share of the third type and got fed up |

Well I don't necessarily disagree with what she has said, when I first joined u got many offers for sex meets before I put any pictures on, so to them appearance obviously didn't matter. I think though these were desperate people looking for sex with absolutely anyone who would say yes, not true swingers. |

I don't think it has anything to do with being a swinger. There are just people for who appearance doesn't matter as long as they get sex. I think a lot of those people are attracted to a site like this because they believe it is going to be full of people desperate for sex. Luckily not everyone thinks like that though.

I agree that they don't matter..... In as much as it's the overall attraction that matters. Attraction is a package deal that encompasses a lot more than just looks! There are a lot of women and couples on here that are drop dead gorgeous, but I still wouldn't meet them because of other factors.
And there are def others that are not classically beautiful in the traditional sense, whom I would drop everything to meet. It's usually down to a real mental connection and often there is just that indefinable spark of something that makes them incredibly attractive.....

I believe that appearance isn’t just about if you consider yourself good looking or not but it shows how well you look after yourself and what you want others to see taking the care and time to make an effort is as important to us as it is for them |

I’m my experience looks do matter. You can’t expect me to want you if we are not attracted. But there are those who will fuck anyone and not care what they look like.

A very interesting point, esp. if you think that by visiting a club or nudist place once you have seen in-person more every-day, "real" naked bodies than the average person would get to see in their whole life - and it is quite the departure from what we see on media!
Many people think that because something is not conventionally attractive or because they don't find it attractive personally it wouldn't and shouldn't have any appeal, but this is simply not true (like someone mentioned above there is no accounting for tastes!). And I also see that most straight people judge the bodies of same sex by conventional standards simply because the sexual attraction is not there (ie. literally can't feel or see the attraction!).
I guess my answer is that appearance matters to casual sex people but not in the prescribed way. |

TL;DR If it's purely just sex you want then looks shouldn't be important - unless you are actually looking for more than just sex.
This is an interesting conundrum. Many people here are on here because they are looking for sex. But many people say a connection or attraction is key - something more akin to a dating site.
So if you are looking purely for sex and nothing more then, IMO, looks are not key - cleanliness, hygeine yes but not looks. It then becomes about what it feels like to kiss that person, to feel their body against yours, how they perform oral etc.
I can definetly have sex with someone I wouldn't fancy if I saw them in the street (and have done so) and afterwards, if it's been enjoyable, then that adds an attraction.
Theoretically it should be possible on here to message someone, ask them if they want ti have sex, say, next Thursday and arrange it (with the main considerations being safety and discretion). Meet, have sex and move on. If it was enjoyable for both parties you could always arrange a repeat performance.
But it isn't. You see profiles of long shopping lists of requirements and dos and don'ts (which I get if you have particular kinks but not if you just want sex). Profiles with arty photos and personality profiles trying to attract people. And people saying they want messages which say more than 'do you wanna fuck'.
But if it's just sex you are looking for why is any of that important - it would seem to me what would be more important is safefy, hygeine, STI free, distance, accomodation and day/time of meet.
I would contrast this with Fabguys where you can just message someone 'do you want oral/sex/whatever' and the only considerations are, usually, cleanliness, STI status, safety and day/time. Looks are a lot less important there.
There are two levels of attraction for me: what I like to look at in photos and seeing people in RL and actual sex.
I've had sex with people I find attractive and its been disappointing (thus lessening attraction), I've had sex with people I wouldn't find attractive and its been brilliant (thus adding attraction).
I like looking at photos of women in nice lingerie but in RL lingerie is not important and I prefer to get naked as soon as possible.
Perhaps people need to think about what they are here for. Is it purely just sex or are they really looking for more? (and then perhaps a dating site would be better for them). |
