Hopscotch, marbles or Red Rover? Any playground game really.
There seem to be lots of games going on today and I want to play one where I understand the rules. |

Red Rover was a bit like bulldog.
You used to have two lines and say Red Rover, Red Rover I call (insert name) over and then that person on their own would have to try and break through the opposing line. |

God I loved red rover. I was great at it because I was completely fearless, I'd just charge straight through and woe betide the kid who tried to stop me.
I was ruthless in clotheslining the kids I didn't like too.
Actually I was a bloody horror when I look back on it.
Whatever. Red rover, red rover, we call Lois over. Promise I won't clothesline. Honest. |

Kerby is when you and your mate stand at opposite sides of a road and throw a ball at the opposite kerb hoping to make it bounce back to you off the edge of the pavement (hence the name).
Hours of fun but hated by road users. |

"Can I join the hopscotch line please xx
Of course. I just have to get up where I lost my balance on a hop
Oh dear would you like a hand xx
I probably will. Thankfully my bottom cushioned the fall
Oh I shall kiss it better just for good measure .... Now who's up for kerby xx"
Oh yes, kerby whiled away hour upon hour when I was a kid! We used to play to 1000 without getting bored |

"Kerby is when you and your mate stand at opposite sides of a road and throw a ball at the opposite kerb hoping to make it bounce back to you off the edge of the pavement (hence the name).
Hours of fun but hated by road users."
I loved kerby! Why don’t they play that anymore? |

One thing I have enjoyed about lockdown is hearing the kids out playing on the green outside their houses and not being stuck in front of their computers. |

Used to play queenie queenie who’s got the ball
Or cats cradle
What was the game you played with the long length of elastic and used to hop your legs over it, with a person either end holding the elastic? |

Yes used to start with 2 people facing each other with the elastic stretched around their feet and the third person would have to climb over, and the elastic would raise up in stages.
