I live in Liverpool now and love it here!
I don't know much about Manchester as only had a few visits so can't fairly compare except to say it's more spread out and a pain to get round and imo less to see. I can tell you you'd more likely get a job there as it has more businesses based there, depending on your industry of course.
I meet lots of people from all over the world and they settled in Liverpool because it's a bit little bears bed, it's 'just right' haha It's not too big but has everything, depending on your interests of course. We'll, except clubs lol Manchester has a few but we have the lovely Townhouse on the Wirral not far away.
If you want anything specific answered feel free to message me, good luck for the job hunt! xx |

I’ve lived in both cities, I’d say Liverpool suits me better than Manchester. I’m originally from Bolton so very close to Manchester so it’s not a biased view.
Reason for Liverpool, The Mersey, Sefton Park, Bold Street, The Docks, FACT Cinema, Liver Building and just a more cosmopolitan feel about the place.
Manchester has the Village, better shopping with the City Centre Afflecks Palace especially or even the Trafford Centre. Decent Theatres and ‘Home’ Cinema.
But I find Scousers are generally more friendly and once you know the City, it’s a better place to live and can be cheaper for housing etc..
Maybe I’ve just had happier memories |

Perfect answer, Liverpool has more independents and more cultural things to do I think and has the most parks of anywhere outside London, beautiful!
So then Steph, wanna come an exhibition in FACT & OUTPUT with me, then on to Heritage for ace noms and dancing in Heaven til 7? xx |

Both have their pros and cons. I've just moved out of Lpool (temporarily)
I think Liverpool city centre feels more like a big town than a city in a good way, you can walk right across it in half an hour. It's an easy city to negotiate on foot. Always loads going on.Lovely parks. That waterfront. All the musical history.
It isn't a very mixed city tho,in my experience, you won't see many local (not tourists/students) non white faces in an ordinary city centre pub or bar unlike say Leeds or Manchester.
Manchester always seems to have a more cosmopolitan vibe to me but I've no idea what the suburbs are like. Ive has some great nights out in Manchester.
Both cities have loads going for them to be honest.

"Go to St. Helens, it is between both places.
You have the option of the M62, the A580 (east lancs road) that link both cities to each other. Also there ate good rail links to both places."
St Helens has some interesting pubs but nowhere I'd want to be after the sun went down.
Strange vibe to the place I've always found |

I’m from Liverpool and live just South of Manchester now.
I’d definitely say Liverpool if you were going to live closer to the City Than I do now. There are some beautiful parts of Liverpool and all the attractions mentioned above and the friendliness of Scousers would be my choice. However I love where I live now. |

I live near Manchester and love it. There's a traditional rivalry between the two cities that goes back a few hundred years so it's good that people here have been so complimentary about both.
In my opinion Liverpool seems stuck in its past, everything was better then. The docks were open, the Beatles, Shankly, slavery '). Manchester is the future, we're looking for new things, sarcasm instead of sentimentality.
None of that helps you though. |

"Manchester is fast becoming the new capital "
Easy! Steady on. As much as I love Manchester it is far from becoming the new capital...
London is still the Capital City of the World so not going to easy to top those rankings |

Although the mancunian accent is as attractive as listening to a cat passing a hairball, it's still poetry compared to scouse. Which one do you want to end up sounding like? Eh? Eh? Eh? Eh? Doyanowotimean? |

Good point! That would be the decider to be fair. Scouse... erm nope! Manchester against Liverpool no brainer and my decision is not swayed by any other reason!

What work are you in or want to be in ?
How far do you want to travel to get to work ? Do you drive ?
Liverpool is a lot easier to get around as its like a big town rather then a city but Greater Manchester does have a tram line, Both very similar cities for nightlife, Culture, Standard of living, Loads of Universities

Spent almost 30 years in Liverpool. Great city, affordable and a low crime rate despite people's preconceptions.
Manchester is more cosmopolitan and larger. Far more employment opportunities, but for me it doesn't have the soul.
You won't go wrong with either city. Happy to show you around if you have nevermind been up these parts!
Now live near St. Helens, great for either city, but a shit night out! |

Got to say that Manchester probably has more job opportunities and everything you would likely need shopping, services wise, etc.
But going with my heart, Liverpool is generally a better night out and the people are just a little bit friendlier/outgoing. |

Of course I'm biased but I love Liverpool. I've lived in loads of cities and Liverpool is my favourite place I've ever lived. If I go away somwhere I genuinely get a buzz coming back into the city. I have friends here from all over the world yet it feels like a little Liverpool family. Almost everyone I know who moved here never wants to leave. There's just such a community feel, so many cool and interesting things going on, so many unique and beautiful places... Yeah I'm a little infatuated with this city. |

Couldn’t agree with this more!
Emma was manchester based and Alex Liverpool!
We both love the two cities but find that Liverpool offers a feeling of ‘home’ that is very unique and is always extended to new comers (non-scousers).
That said, we are now over the Mersey and on the Wirral (but are moving back in a few months).
Also, the TownHouse club
Though both are excellent areas x |

Both great cities. But I'm biased and would have to say Liverpool. Most listed buildings outside of London, more parkland than Paris, the World Heritage Site waterfront, new developments all over as the city continues it's revival, the Albert Dock, the Liverpool Arena, two Cathedrals, more museums than you can shake a stick at, art galleries (Tate, Walker, Sudley), at least three
universities, LIPA, Liverpool 1, dozens of hotels including lots of quirky ones, the Albert Dock, Matthew St, compact city centre (you can't walk across it in half an hour - too many great pubs in the way), dozens of free music venues any night of the week, two great football teams (okay, okay, one great football team), cosmopolitan AND of course, the people. |

Depends where you are, Eccleston, Windle aregood places to live, the links to both Liverpool & Manchester are excellent. Bonus side of it is, you are less than 20 minutes away from from some lovely countryside.
Every speaks plastic scouse there now anyway, so no real issue with accents. |

Enjoyed both whenever I have visited for pleasure/work but I'd say Liverpool due to the fact it's a bit smaller, great night out, friendly people, potentially cheaper to live and also got some very nice areas despite maybe it's reputation.
However more job opportunities in Manchester. Still a good city.
I kind of see it as Glasgow and Edinburgh comparison. Both good city's but Glasgow is cheaper friendlier and a better night out. |

With my objective hat on, both are great cities with little to choose between, but my heart would say Manchester. Perhaps it's because it feels like home to me? All of the things that make me love Manchester, like HOME, little independent music venues etc are all closed indefinitely, all the best cultural things aren't open and so who knows what will happen in future?
If you like your football, Liverpool is way better (see, I'm not biased) but for the love of God, DON'T live in St Helens like someone suggested |
