He comes across as a bit of a dick tbh. Saw the prog he did back in 97 as it's been repeated a few times but I won't be watching this new one as I'll be too busy surfing thehun. |

"Hmmm, not keen on the way he tried to find out more about a newbie porn star's upbringing, as I believe it was a bit too intrusive.
"
finding Louis's questions very odd... not liking his angle on this |

"What is Louis's issue with this 'intimate' line of questions... its sex for god sake!
I get the feeling with Louis that sex is about love not fun?!" Easy to claim the moral high ground equating sex with love..it's the default position in any 'sexual' investigative docs |

I know he does the 'I have to appear stupid to get some answers' but he really didn't understand that these people are doing a job.
He needs to come here and read the forums. |

I really like Louis Theroux, I think he's a great investigative journalist and interviewer.
I did not see the programme but will watch it tonight. I have seen the other programmes though and I do know his style of interviewing.
He does come across as bumbling, naïve and geeky and its this innocent look and line of questioning that let's peoples guard down and they reveal more. Its a very clever stance because I am sure that Louis is no fool.
But on this thread people are very defensive about sexual attitudes. Just because someone is a swinger, does not mean that they are obsessed with sexuality and aaplaud any sexual extremes.
I would never work in the porn industry or in prostitution. I find it a very degrading way to make a living. Many of the workers have not had stable backgrounds, not all of course, I am sure some genuinely enjoy their job, but I would say that a large majority do this because they feel they have no other option in life.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with the attitude of equating sex with love. The vanilla world are not fuddy duddys who have boring sex lives. I have only experienced swinging over the last 2 years. Before that I not promiscuous, had not had many sexual partners and was very comfortable with that.
Even now that I've experienced swinging its not the sex that's the main pull for me, its the exhibitionism. Granted I've had some great sex, but I am very glad that I have not been in this scene for many years. I'm glad that my sex life has not been stranger sex for years and years because I do believe that can be very soulless and clinical.
A sexual relationship when you're in love is a hundred times better than any one night stand or swinging sex situation. |

Thought the programme was a bit flat tbh.
Didn't really go anywhere or saying anything new.
He has made better and hopefully will continue to do so.
The only highpoint was seeing the two 'performers' in the shower after their shoot.
And that was from a purely 'can i get in the middle please ?' standpoint |

" Of course there is nothing wrong equating sex with love, it's an experience that defines our humanity... but, as we know, people, swingers or vanilla, do have sex outside of a loving relationship . Theroux's pious thesis is to use the extreme world of porn to inform us that it's a slippery slope leading to drug taking, and broken lives, if we stray away from 'sex within a loving relationship' let's hope he can look at himself in a mirror.
