Yeh they will. You'll probably have to book your time slot like pubs and restaurants do now

I've been missing the gym.

Though even if they do reopen I will probably wait a month or so before returning.

I’m (the Mrs) looking forward to getting back to the gym as I’ve really not been all that active while in lockdown. Done the walks etc but it’s just not the same.

I’ve heard it could be as soon as a couple of weeks and that classes will be about half the size, a lot of equipment either removed or barred off to allow for social distancing and also a huge encouragement on spending as little time in changing rooms as possible. It’ll be an interesting experience!

Don't care for the gym, but kids are missing the swimming pool. Wonder how those will work.

In Wales, the gym's will open at the end of July. However, I managed to buy some weights up to 50kg from Argos. It's cost just over £50, well worth it.

I heard there won't be the same amount of machines, heavy weights will be removed and showers might not be in use.

You might have to book a time slot, in addition to the cleaning regime that will be in place.

Both of the big chain gyms near me will have all kit available but you have to book and max 1 hour slot. Smaller independent gyms are operating in much the same way.

No use to me at all with max 1 hour

I'll take an hour as it's better than nothing and I need to build up again to my normal times

My shortest session of the is about 1 hr 45 minutes or so for bench, squat and deadlifts usually run to 2 hrs 30 minutes. 45 minutes of that is warm up and post work out mobility

I figure I can save time by warming up before I get in there. Even if I look like a numpty in the park

Horsham

When PureGym first reopens, Cobbold says, classes will be off the menu. “I think it’s true to say that studio operators who are purely about classes will struggle to break even at anything that’s consistently less than 50% occupancy,” he says.

Huffing and puffing come with the territory in a gym. “There is inevitably an amount of sharing of equipment and people are doing exercise so they’re breathing sometimes quite heavily,” says Cobbold. High-use areas will be cleaned every couple of hours with PureGym’s premises closing at night for deep cleans. The purchase of expensive robot cleaners that use light beams to zap surfaces is also being weighed up, he says.

Gym goers will also have to become more hygiene-conscious. “You’ve got to get a discipline established in members,” says Cobbold. “You wipe down [equipment] before, you wipe down afterwards. If they are sensible, members will want to do that.” Wearing face masks is also on the cards. “If you’ve got an obligation to not transmit the virus to other people, then I think that’s a direction we’ll probably end up going in,” he adds.
