Who is at the pub?

hiding from cock pics.

For those who have ventured out to enjoy a drink in their local, what is it like, does it feel a lot different and can they still maintain an ambiance that makes it worthwhile?

I am genuinely interested but I'm concerned it might be a little bit sterile feeling.

I past 6 pubs on my way back from the shops, every single one had the lights on, door open but the carparks were empty and I couldn't see a sole. My local social club which is huge also posted a picture of their first customer at 2pm, they opened at 11am!

I went for a quiet drink earlier and it felt strange. It was more like going to a restaurant, much more formal and controlled.

There was a member of staff at the door checking if you had made a reservation, as I hadn't he checked on his list and allocated a table. There was a two hour maximum time limit and had to give names and numbers for track and trace. No going to the bar, the waitress came over to take orders and payment at the table.

I'm not going but I've passed a couple of pubs one was very noisy the other which looked much more inviting was very sedate.

I've seen a few pics on Facebook, zero social distancing of anyone posing for pictures so that's excellent news

The pub across the road looks entirely like normal, as does the traffic passing by

Anyone who steps foot in a pub today must be desperate...

Your local will be shut again in a few weeks due to a spike

I'm not desperate, I like to support local businesses. I don't want boarded up shops or more generic chain stores or apartments where they used to be.

Plus I don't think we can live in fear, I think enough people will be sensible enough not to result in them being forced to close again.

They looked like they were having a marvellous time at the one I walked past, all ruddy cheeked and loud singing, and cheek to cheek hugging for their selfies

I’ve created my own COVID safe Wetherspoons bar at home. Half filled a pint glass with beer, topped it up with lukewarm water and then pissed all over the bathroom floor.

I'm not sure but we won't be especially as the London R rate has already creeped above one.

I'm all for supporting local business but the problem is people just want stick to the rules.

London/Essex... ish... Romford to be exact

Walked past one local and it is not reopening and is now on the market. Walked past another and there was a queue of two people. It might get slightly livelier in the evening but I can't say I'm desperate to make a visit. Yet.

People are wanting to get back to some kind of normality and alcohol loosens your will and the thought process, the pub I passed earlier was packed and social distancing out the window but I haven't seen a resolute social distancing for quite some time anyway.

Fairly busy to middling here. All tables are occupied - came in for one - on my third as you do ... !

Social distance not being enforced - but then it does not have to be - since not as many ppl here.

Whilst you have to get a table to get inside - once you are inside it seems to you are allowed to move around and find a better vantage spot - unchallenged.

At this time ( 18:21 ) Feels like a normal pub day but slightly quieter and civilised is all ...

Went in earlier to show support (ex publican) and it felt so dire. Diary on the bar for contact details, just in case, but it was so strange.....

Frontline Report:

Okay had my third pint - got to go home ( hot date tonight ) ha!

But my final report is that the demographics are definitely young peeps filling the pub here ( Nottingham full of Fun ) ... i.e. less than 25 years of age ...

Make of as you will ... try to report more later !

Peace x

Not all in my area are open yet, but I walked past one of the more popular ones and I could see there were quite a few in there and a queue outside. It's going to be different, but so is pretty much everything else. This is, for now, the new normal.

Cheshire, Windermere ,Cumbria

Not us, we are home with a bottle of wine. There’s not many pubs in our area but we walked past one earlier today, they had put up gazebos and large umbrellas in the beer garden, each table was taken and we could see people through the window watching football inside sat at tables, all seemed very civilised, no queue outside so I’m presuming people booked, hopefully stays that way through the night.

Horrid weather today but I was still surprised that the pubs weren't busy at all, quite eerie.
