I found the backnobber 2 really useful.

Order online from Amazon though as you don’t want to be asking for that over the counter

Find the source of the issue, so that you reduce the chances of it recurring or getting worse. Good posture. Stretching, such as with progressive yoga. Massage. Hot shower or bath will improve circulation to the areas and help the muscles relax. If it's just a muscle problem and not more serious - though muscle damage can be a serious problem - then progressive recovery, rather than an instant fix, should be expected and explored.

As others say, ice treatment, which can be alternated with heat. Ibuprofen can be applied as a topical gel etc, ot tablets.
