You can have whatever you like at your age or any age. 
Do you want it to be seen or be able to cover?
Do you know what style do you fancy? I have a pinterest board with ideas. That can help you narrow it down.
Think of things or events that hold significant meaning to you. How they can be represented? Meaningful tattoo is a way to go.
As for placement it will really depend on your design. Your artist can help you chose best way to show it off.
