So my youngest bought an ex housing association flat
It’s quite big.
But OMG what a lot of work to do, the standard of workmanship by the council is disgraceful..
So upstairs has gas connected, meter is attached to the outside wall of her flat, but Cadent Gas want £790 to connect her to gas???
Not only that according to them she’s already connected??
Checked on line even gives a meter number.
But I know she isn’t, to send an engineer out costs same £790
We have no choice as they are the allocated provider for her postcode....
It’s a fucking disgrace!!!
Sorry I swore |

I know what you mean and its the contracted out to a different firm bodgers as I call them.
it dosnt help with me baing a plumber and seeing bad work.
Then again I threw the last lot of plumbers out of my house for bodging there gas works.
10 faults they fixed on the whole of the house when I allowed them back in the convo on the cctv was really interesting ![](/icons/s/mrgreen.gif) |

The previous owner of my house was paranoid about having gas connected so had the meter removed and incoming supply pipe capped off.
The cost of having the service checked by Cadent and then fit a new meter was £580 total hours worked on site was 1 lead time was 5 months.
No access was required to the inside of the house but they still would not install until lockdown eased. |
