Do you believe you're cursed

Jump to: Newest in thread

With bad luck?

I know cursed is a strong word, but I'm pretty cheesed off right now. I have come to believe if anything can go wrong in my life, then that's the route it takes.

I'm flabbergasted and drained.

No I don't believe in curses but some people do have a much worse time of it than others. Life is not fair

I’m so sorry you’re having a hard time .

I try and focus on what’s going right, then even is stuff is going wrong, you can see the positives.

If that makes sense?

Totally understand that but when you're on the receiving end of a myriad of incompetences that involves many health care professionals, it's unbloody believable. Even more so when you're a professional yourself and go the extra mile for patients. I suppose it's my own fault that the medical team in Malta saved my life whereas here they don't give a damn about my rehab

I thought you were. I have striven to get the help I am entitled to (and complain so no one else suffers such incompetence) and I have faced hurdles at every poxy avenue. Every referral to another department has gone wrong or simply not happened (that's the latest one).

The breathing bit isn't always a positive.

My one positive in life, no matter the struggles I have faced once the emotional hardship has eased, has been my brain. But it's my brain that needs the rehab.

It’s human nature to see order where there is none. It’s what makes us curse BMW drivers when actually most cars have a percentage of idiots behind the wheel and it means when bad things happen we attribute it to *something* rather than just accepting in this chaotic world, bad stuff can happen for a while.

Short version: I hope things improve but you’re not cursed. Is there a way you can fight your battles differently to help change things?

The complaint about the hospital took 7 months to compose, it has now reached the stage of involving the parliamentary ombudsman. The CQC have also expressed an interest and are going to do unannounced visit based on my experiences.

It's the least I can do, try to protect other patients.

I listen ha!

Actually I do and I have resolved many a conflict between patient and health care professional/service, because I listen AND advocate complaints as times where the service can learn and improve.

Firstly big hugs to you.

I know exactly what you mean as at times I feel like I am cursed.

I (Mr CC) have a long term health condition and had been through all the meds and treatments and then had to wait the best part of 5 years to have a surgical procedure of an implant in my chest and wires up into the back of my head and thought yes finally might have an improvement. Had to have an MRI for wire placement and this is when they found I have a brain aneurism. Thought why me, but nothing I can really do about it so just forget it.

Implant has been a good success and improved my quality of life and thought finally my health is on the up but low and behold something else happens and I end up being rushed into hospital to find out I have a pneumothorax (collapsed lung)

Begging to think what is the point of even getting out of bed.

I have to have another die contrast CT scan on new years eve to see if it has increased in size as they can't do anything about it until it reaches a certain size.

Nope, if anything I think i’m quite well blessed in the luck department. I fly by the seat of my pants and somehow everything turns out ok, eventually.

I like to think it’s my nan and gramp sat together in “heaven” somewhere watching me over a cup of yorkshire tea and making everything ok whilst tutting and calling me a dickhead

On the other hand when i first started working i knew a woman who truly had such unbelievable bad luck happen to her and her family, yet she was still positive, still upbeat. I think if what had happened to her, had happened to me, i’d be on my knees. She was an inspiration.

Hugs to you OP x
