Nope this isn't about a meet, just bloody American TV, just finished watching Alcatraz on Watch, left on a cliff hanger only to discover they're not doing anymore, they did the same with the revamp of V too, why oh why do they do this to us |

Wasn't the 'revamped' V, cancelled because Murdoch who bought Virgin's TV channels just closed down Virgin One channel (but he never takes over media channels and closes them down, oh no).
So it had no UK tv channel to be aired on any longer. It was fairly naff though!

It all has to be paid for and if there aren't enough watching it then its curtains. Its a shame though leaving a cliffhanger. |

US TV is ruthless.
All the networks apply the same cut throat attitude i.e. commission 6 to 12 episodes with an option to go to 18 or 24. A lot of shows get canned half way through one season if viewing figures aren't good enough. They aren't prepared to allow anything to grow, if it isn't an instant hit it's dropped. They have such a wealth of talent in the US with production companies and writers that they just move on to the next big idea.
Very annoying! I never watch anything unless it's into a second season now. |

I wouldn't quite go that far... but I tend to vere towards the comedic dramas and comedies for the same reason... one of my favourite shows, Chuck, has had the axe hanging over it for 3 years... but is still going so far..... |

well, I'm a fan of Sci Fi, so they tend to cancel all the shows I like.
Firefly? Cancelled
Sarah Connor Chronicles? Cancelled
V? Cancelled
Terra Nova (which wasn't great, but was ok)? Cancelled
Stargate Universe? Cancelled
Sanctuary? Cancelled |

Time to change to the Soaps Channel then, nothing gets cancelled and even if it does, some channel somewhere will show repeats.... |

Watched a few Alcatraz and thankfully got bored of it. They did the same with the Chicago Code, loved it no idea why they cancelled it as it got rave reviews in the states too. |

I used to watch Jericho a few years ago, it got cancelled on a cliffhanger, but fans of the show bombarded the channel who made it with peanuts!
One of the characters quoted ( I THINK ) General McAuliffe at Bastogne, when asked to surrender replied with a one word answer 'Nuts'. So fans of the show sent tons of nuts to the studio, till they gave in and commissioned a few more episodes to end the story.
Don't know what could be sent to stop them cancelling Alcatraz.....Aussies ?? |

"Those interested, Alcatraz is back in the autumn
You prematurely cancelled then? "
Nope, due to popular demand to the studio they've commissioned another season, me? Premature? How very dare you |

I really liked The EVENt...had promise..cancelled grrrr
one series that indeed proved he TV cheifs wrong was the massively brilliant 'Firefly', from josh Weldon...as it was left so open...fans worldwide wanted more...then it was made into I'd say a highly successful movie...even fans that didnt know the show liked it, and then watched the series! |

Def agree - i wonder what the US channels would have done with DrWho if they had it in the early 60's ? its now a worldwide franchise and the BBC's most sucsessful one as well. |

"still not happy with flash forward
"
Oh Fuk, the penny just dropped. I thought you were talking about the flash forwards in 'Lost', but your talking about the programme where the crows all fell from the sky, and one of the hobbits was a baddy |
