When you clean the vacuum cleaner, do you not become the vacuum cleaner?

There are several types. Is it white?

As a tradesman i hate if the housholder has a dyson, but a henry hoover is great, all the power you need and simples.

Some helpful comments here. Thanks everyone. If anybody has other suggestions, go for it. Miele is in pole but most of the tradesmen who come to our house always seem to have a Henry.

Shark is amazing!

I replaced our dyson handheld when it started playing up. I thought our carpets were clean as I'd already vacuumed on the morning that my new shark was delivered, how wrong I was. I vacuumed the whole house again with the shark and had to empty it 3 times!

Always a henry, fairly indestructible, easy to get spares if one goes wrong and other companies do attachments veyond the standard

My Vax is cheap and cheerful - good value and does all I expect of it. It is no Rolls Royce - but then I drive a mundane car too ! I guess I'm easily pleased.

If you give Meli or Queenie a hose they'll do a fantastic job of picking up golf balls

Builders and professional cleaners seem to like Henry's, I had my mums very powerful hoover for a while but now it's a £50 Beldray which is fine for where I live, depends on your property I think

a quandary, could you change my mind?

A Henry for hard surfaces, and picking up larger objects, cleaning up all sorts of rubbish.

But if you have carpet it needs a rotating brush bar I think. Was a Dyson fan, but when this one fails it will be a different brand.

Henry is good, though all vacuums arn't as powerfull as they used to be due to an eu directive. I've got a 25 year old Henry & that picks up much better than a new Henry. If you want an upright Sebo is good, though expensive.

Dyson and shark are just massive on advertising not making a good cleaner but for a commercial quality vacuum cleaner used on building sites to offices for 8 hours a day every day Numatic Henry or a Sebo will last for years and years without any problems, or if you just want a cheap one that's ok try a Hoover or vax their both made in china by the same company but if it does break through it away and get another one as spare parts could be expensive

I am team Miele!

I got one off freecyle when I first move in on my own, was old battered yet amazing suction, alas the pipe broke and even though Miele do replacement parts is was cheaper to buy another Miele

I have the red one for cats and dogs, and lifts the carpet of the floor

I,ve had a oreck XL for 25 years etc filters any dust particles, orthopedic handle light as a feather best vaculm cleaner I,ve ever had, The best hoover my parents had before then was a hoover junior from around 1971 to when it failed in the early 90,s it was small and light and a proper work horse but with a dust bag which was no fun emptying.
