I screamed before because I was playing Fortnite and it's a new season and it has sharks and I was high up on a roof spying on the enemy and the next thing you know a shark jumped on the roof and I fell down and it was just so unexpected that a shark could jump so high and that was when a shark attacked

They're probably seeing an influx of people coming into their territory and now the sharks think they're in an all you can eat free buffet!

They want to eat, not murder and kill.

It's not their fault people on surf boards, paddle boards and and canoes look like seals from underneath.

The only way they find out they're not seals is by having a bite.

If you go in the ocean it's the risk you take.

I think they are great.

There are many more deaths caused by vending machines each year than by sharks.

If you're looking for a threat to worry about, there's the real killer.

Are there particular vending machines that are deadlier than others?

I'd imagine a Coke can machine would be lethal whereas a crisp and sweets machine may just cause a serious injury, and a condom machine minor concussion if it fell off the wall and hit you

And they tend to congregate ready to pounce when you least expect it - they have a real pack mentality...lurk in corridors and social areas primed and ready...

..condom machines are the worst though, hanging there waiting till your hands are busy - take your eye off them for a second and they attack

We're intelligent enough to be able to take precautions and have lots of choice. Sharks don't have the freedoms that we do, including the abilities to stop humans from destroying their habitats and driving them towards extinction.

Sharks are definitely NOT evil.

Apex predator - yes

Perfect result of evolution - yes

Evil - no

They don't even eat humans, they only attack because we look like injured seals. They usually bite once, realise we're not the right thing, and swim away.

The truly evil ones are those people who herd sharks into shallow water and hack their fins off to make soup, leaving the sharks to for in agony.

A good few years ago I was fortunate enough to go diving with Great Whites just off South Africa.... yes I was in a dive cage!

It was one of the most breathtaking and amazing experiences of my life. We had 3 sharks between 13 and 16 feet long ‘interested’ In us . they really are beautiful and graceful. They emerged very slowly and gracefully out of the deep, and amazing sight to see a shadow evolve into shape, evolve into a shark as it slowly comes up... , but then literally within 2 flicks of their powerful tail, they could disappear back into the depths.

It is interesting that to begin with we were using extended snorkel tubes to see them as the sound of exhaled air from the regulator would have frightened them away until they feel comfortable. A couple came close to the cage and we pushed them away ... their skin is very rough and feels like sandpaper. At the very end, I even got a chance to see one with his mouth wide open and the ferocity with which he took the meat .... those teeth are soooo menacing and powerful.

I saw the bite marks on the seal shaped float they used to lure the sharks, and it just shows the spread of the teeth .. kinda brought it home how powerful they are.

Generally sharks don’t want to feed on humans, there isn’t enough meat on us (well most of us) and an attack is usually a mistake and attacks often don’t go beyond an ‘exploratory’ bite ... but that is enough to do the damage... but I guess like humans, sometimes you do get a nasty one who doesn’t follow the rules!!

After that, I now see sharks as just another beautiful (but yes dangerous) part of nature that altered my perceptions. ... and after all the ocean is their environment and not ours!!

I remember as I got on the boat with the cage on the back thinking .... hmm, I’ve seen Jaws and he ate a boat of this size and and smashed the cage .... as the guide said, Jaws was the worst film ever for people to even try to understand about the reality of them.

An amazing experience .... one I’d recommend if you ever get the chance xx

Yes I,d agree there and main predator too dolphins have been known to Intervean between humans and sharks where the dolphin has head butted the shark in the side and driven them off how often that has happened I,m unsure.

Been hit by the dolphins nose causes so much damage to a shark it is unlikely to survive, hence sharks will avoid them at all cost

"A good few years ago I was fortunate enough to go diving with Great Whites just off South Africa.... yes I was in a dive cage!

A good post.. sharkskin has been used as sandpaper in the past. Dogfish mainly. But what interests me is the talk of a shark that does not play by the rules. I wonder how many of them are out there. They sound even more dangerous. A rogue shark, so evil that he ignores the rules of the sea. Not all sharks are evil it seems but there may be a hierarchy of evil. It surprised me on shark week that not all sharks eat meat. Some eat plankton. I am not sure if that makes them vegetarian or if plankton are tiny creatures. Either way I won't be getting into the water anytime soon.

Watch this interesting clip about the interaction between Blacktips and Hammerheads.

It's unlikely that humans are on the menu for either species. But if humans are stupid enough to get in the way and get hurt,it's hardly the sharks fault.

I won't be diving in cages or paddling in Clacton. You never know where these buggers lurk..warmer waters bring them ever closer to our shores....

There are jellyfish too... And even on the pier you are not safe.. seagulls pestering for chips.and pigeons for crusts.. a trip to the seaside is not what it used to be....

Sharks are so misunderstood. I lived in western australia for over 10 years and spearfished nearly every weekend. Best memory I'll probably ever have was swimming next to a 12 ft female tiger, she was just cruising during pup season came right up to check us out then carried on her way. Scary but breathtaking

If sharks are 'evil' just lurking, waiting for their chance to eat humans, then why didn't these Great Whites eat these divers? It would have been so easy for them.

Maybe they were domesticated,trained sharks.

Maybe it's a myth and they don't eat people after all.

Was just about to post this.

Humans illegally kill 100 million sharks each year.

Sharks kill about 6 humans each year (possibly by accident thinking it's a seal etc)

I'm suspecting OP is trolling but maybe not.

Used to Spear fish and surf off the East African coast and had plenty of close encounters with sharks, including a couple of close calls with Bull and Tiger sharks. Lost a friend to a bull shark attack and a mate lost his leg. But it never put me off going back into the water. They are beautiful, powerful, graceful, and yes deadly, but they are not the mindless killing machines of Hollywood nightmares.

Crocodiles however scare the shit out of me! Those fuckers are pure evil lol!
