Miners i think is one of the most dangerous jobs. But then you get jobs that have a high rate of people becoming alcoholics or commiting suicide

Somebody told me this thirtyy years ago,

Statistically I guess given the number of people that actually perform this job it'll be way higher than other professions...

I guess it depends how you define dangerous - whether it's just fatalities or all reported accidents - certainly used to be painters - purely from the amount that fall of ladders

Actually, as somebody was pointing out earlier, perhaps we need to differentiate whether we are talking about fatalities or other dangers eg long term illness (those who worked with asbestos or other carcinogenic materials)?

"construction is"

Agree..I remember someone telling me that someone involved in construction was killed every single day about 30 odd years ago..and I think it still has the highest mortality rate

Which put a different angle on it when you hear blokes say 'all this health and safety is over the top'

Really?

It was 12 hours on 12 off....during off time we had access to fones....no internet in those days tho. was very hard tho being away....worse than in military as much less back up. we were basically seperated within our own compound as we were hated by the general employees who were paid pennys. People lost thier lives every week trying to steal diamonds....they even had a company dentist who randomly check workers mouths for stones as they left. I do hope you get some contact and good news soon...chris xxx

Thats all press B/S that involved less than 1% of dental practices. Many decided not to do NHS work because of the hassle. If you don't recommend someone tries another dentist you are lying lol! Yeh Tescos tell you go to ASDA its cheaper...NOT!
