I sometimes do, but I have wide feet. I do find men's shoes are slightly wider than women's (hiking boots and similar, like I'll try the same style in the same size, one marked M and one marked W) and the women's one pinches and the men's one doesn't.
I don't know how that translates to narrow feet though, sorry. |

I'm a 7.5/8 depending on the width and style.
The size of the shoe should take into account the style/shape of it which is why pointy shoes often look quite long, because they can't really point until your toes end (I hope that makes sense) also the height of the heel impacts on the width of your foot. The higher it is the more your foot spreads out. |
