"So I’m ok with mistakes and I’m not some grammar nazi, but I just have to confess that wrong use of apostrophes and been instead of being can turn me off. Know what I mean?"
I judge myself for it... But sometimes I just cringe! |

This sort of thing niggles me. Not a deal breaker but annoys me. Don't get me wrong sometimes my brain goes faster than my fingers in typing but I do try and review before submitting a comment. Doesn't always work
I read a fair amount if books so bad grammar or use of wrong words does seem to jump out at me |

You can usually tell the difference between a typo mistake and poor grammar.
Their, they're and there give me a wee chuckle. Of, off, your and you're just make me roll my eyes a little. I certain my wouldn't call it a turn off though! |

"my personal top hated is the
could OF done it and not HAVE!
aaarrrrggghhhhhh
You got there before me!"
I know it's probably a bit 'stuck up', but i've been known to stop a conversation mid-flow and walk away due to that exact mistake |

I find it ironic that when I came to this thread, there was one immediately below it in the list with the title "strap on's". There are three errors in two words. That's impressive.
It should be "Strap-ons" - with a capital S, a hyphen and no friggin' apostrophe! |

"I try not to be all pedantic (as make the odd error myself!) but some do drive me mad!
Had an email from someone at work (quite high up!) which said "Are department is been audited today" "
Yes! Those that use are instead of our.
Or women instead of woman. |

I don't think it's the bad grammar or spelling that puts me off someone, but it's the reflection of their sheer laziness which is also a reflection of what their life must be like! I mean you can have someone who never went to school, has no qualifications, but if this person works hard and has integrity then who is the 'better person'; the rocket scientist who has no ethics and morals, love, or the cleaner who has no qualifications at all but is honest and genuine and has always worked hard all her life to bring food for her family? |

At the same time, i think if someone is judging someone on their grammar, they prob need to re-evaluate.
"
I would agree. However, it's not necessarily judgement. Just an acknowledgement of my own foibles, to recognise that a prolonged communication with that person would probably irritate me.
Irrational? Unfair? Yes, certainly, but not a judgement of them as a person. |

There is a clear divide between those that struggle to spell and those that are too lazy to spell |
