The Town by The Cross

Two cowboys were waiting in their fort for the Indians to attack. They listened to the distant pounding war drums.

One cowboy muttered to the other, "I don't like the sound of them drums."

Just then, a distant voice came over the hill, " Ringo isn't our usual drummer!'

When asked if Ringo Starr was the best drummer in the world, John Lennon stated he wasn't even the best drummer in the Beatles.

Neil Peart for me too because he keeps getting better Rush's new album is amazing.

Close second's are Ian Paice, and John Bonham who died too young to realise his potential.

"What about the one armed drummer from Def Leppard?"

Rick Allen is a dam good drummer and you have to give it for perseverance but if you are looking for a strong drummer with speed and skill it would be Keith Moon. His showmanship was the cherry on the cake to put him well above the rest for me.

Another vote for Neil Peart here. Just a genius

Reply privately, Reply in forum +quote or View forums list

This is all very subjective and rightly so.

But as I played with the guy: Iain Paice of Purple?

Mick Fleetwood is underrated.

Gene Krupa or Buddy Rich for driving a big band.

Great to see so many RUSH fans on here. Ive travelled the globe following RUSH since the early 80's...from Canada to their first ever gig in Dublin last year for the Time Machine tour. I've already got tickets for the Clockwork Angels tour in Germany, SECC in Glasgow, the obligatory Birmingham gig at the NIA.

Anyone else going?

Errrr..NOPE...Dublin was absolutely rammed last year when they played their first ever gig in Ireland at the 02.

Admittedly when the Irish heard there was a RUSH, they all drove to Dublin thinking there was a queue for people wanting their drives tarmacced to a piss poor standard...lol

Which realy upset Ringo and nearly broke up the band......... John was a nasty fucker at times, but he was the best of the four.....

Dave Rowntree (from Blur) btw

Maybe if you replace 'top' with 'best known' or something... There's a lot of fabulous musicians out there who aren't band members by trade, session musicians and the like.

Don't know much about drumming myself, not played them since school. Always been very impressed by Steve Gadd and Levon Helm though, sad to hear Levon passed away recently.
