Yorkshire

Was just listening to ‘under the boardwalk’ on YouTube. An old fella had written underneath. “When you’re happy you listen to the song, when you’re sad you listen to the words” and it really slapped me in the face.

What other songs could be said this of.

I’m gonna go with ‘At Last’.

I can't make you love me by Bonnie Raitt,or by George Michael. Both versions are heartrending . Cat Stevens -How can I tell you I love you .They all have the ability to make you think they are really feeling what they are singing about .

When I want to wallow in sadness I listen to ‘Dimming of the day’ originally by Richard Thompson but I like the Alison Krauss version

Starless, particularly the version by the Unthanks that really brings home the lyrics. https://youtu.be/AE0cIOhpFZ4

Burn from Hamilton the musical, it’s about his wife describing the pain she’s in since he cheated on her it’s so powerful

Also on my own from les Misérables where she sings about being in love with Marius but he doesn’t see her that way
