Chlorinated Mixed Salad

I only found this out from the chlorinated chicken thread. Most mixed salad bags are rinsed in a chlorine wash to kill off harmful bacteria like salmonella and the the plastic bags are filled with a modified gas to preserve shelf life. Some nutrients are stripped during this 'MAP' process. Scientists believe that this is OK because it's safe and vegetable rearing standards are not an issue. In meat production rearing standards are an issue.

I always buy whole lettuce. I wonder if that is clorinated.

Frankenstein food is here folks.

All of our food is modified in some way.

The "healthy" veg you think your eating really isn't.

Unless you can be arsed to do all the research and have the money to buy organic and space to grow your own veg then we have to accept it

In most cases you get what you pay for.

Just around the corner

It doesn’t mean it’s a good idea to add even more chlorine to your diet.

Is rocket clorinated..

Oh and spinach leaves. It only ever seems to come in a bag..

Shropshire

Shop local?

We get fruit and veg from local green grocer, meat from butchers.

Cheaper, fresher, less miles travelled, traceable.
