For me, I've always found erotica to be much more stimulating than visuals. I still have a few well-thumbed books bought from the back section of Anne Summers in the last millennium!

Depends on my mood. Erotica is often a go to, not least because you can put anyone you like into the starring roles. And fantasy, memory, even porn.
