I wasnt gonna post anything today but the sad news about the death of snooker legend Willie Thorne prompted me to do so .
I met him in my local town many years ago and he was a lovely chap .

I saw him (not to speak to) checking into a hotel in Preston in the late 90s
His wife was very glamorous and attractive, and he was driving a huge S-Class Mercedes with the number plate A147 PRO

I also met him.
One year at the World Snooker Championship my ex and I were staying at The Mercure in Sheffield. We came back to the hotel after the afternoon session and got in the lift to go to our room. In the lift was a beautiful lady who chatted to me about snooker. The next morning at breakfast the day after the final she walked into the restaurant with Willie at her side, her husband. Made a bee line for us. Ex spoke to him about snooker players A and B games and me and her chatted about fashion. She told me if they hadn’t to get home ‘for the dogs’ she would have gone shopping with me and she hugged me goodbye.
It’s a sad day, he was a legend. RIP Willie xx |

In the 80s the young famous snooker players took advantage of the fame ..and enjoyed 3somes with mother & daughter snooker groupies in the hotels after hours .... WT was the last of the snooker elite to conquer ...thus doing the Willie Thorne was borne ....maybe he was a ......swinger .. |

Having 3somes with Mother & daughter after snooker matches....he was the last of the top pros to do it ..so the name stuck ..Doing a WT....  |
