I fancied a bit of a change so I popped over to Twitter. Oh my word! What a scary place that is. Everyone is so shouty and they insult one another constantly. I’ve seen words in sentences to label people that just seem so daft.
Gammon - or gammon head
Bot - everyone is called a bot
Troll - well I’m familiar with that from the forums.
And if you have less than 30 followers they laugh at you. I have closed my account and returned to safe space
What do you make of Twitter? |

I thought it was just me that refused to have anything to do with it!
Never been on it, as the original premise seemed pointless, and don't see that ever changing
I'm even disillusioned with Facebook and barely use it these days |

All over the place! Northwesr, , Southwest |
The twittersphere seems to be the most toxic of all social media from all accounts. I've never used but have seen how vicious it can be and much ill will it can bring out in people.
Too much social media in general makes people angrier and more miserable I find. The only one I really use is fab...if it can be construed as such |

It provides a forum for opinions from anyone and everyone I suppose but so much negativity on there. It drains the soul. |

It's a good way to follow authoritative sources on things, a feed of information. I've got virologists I'm following for sure.
It's like most things, you can make it work.
On the rare occasions I comment I get nervous if I get too much interaction on my activity. |

I wonder if it just becomes addictive. Collecting followers and retweet’s of your posts? I don’t know. |

Is it something to do with having to turn thoughts and ideas into short soundbites? Oversimplifying can make things more binary, and so more divisive? I have to say it's never appealed to me. |

I kinda like Twitter. I accept the many problems of it. The fibs and insults too. But admit I took a sabbatical from it until Covid hit for about a year. You can end up wasting time on it.
Depends how you use it, who you follow, private lock for my own account, you can even stop people replying. |

I quite like Twitter. Some of the funniest content is on there. There are, as with all social media/forums, a lot of dickheads and trolls making a noise, but if you follow the accounts you enjoy and mute the ones you don't, it soon becomes worthwhile. I tend to work it broadly as: Facebook is for people I know personally, Twitter is for people I don't. |

That makes sense. I did just follow a bunch of stuff so that I could see how it worked. There was a lot of negativity but if I tailored it then it could work. I get it |

There and to the left a bit |
Like most social media (the forums here included) Twitter is as good or as bad as you choose to make it.
There are aspects of it I enjoy and particular people I follow who I'm interested in hearing what they have to say - it can be funny, interesting, informative and much more BUT it's also easy to get sucked into some of the more negative ranty aspects of it too.
The key is picking and choosing how you use it - both different from picking and choosing which threads you read/comment on here. |

I've actually really enjoyed my (personal) Twitter experience - I've made some great friends and learned a lot of interesting things. To be fair I do stick to the sex positive/poly blogging community so they are generally friendlier. I think Twitter is just like fab forum but amped up to the max. You still read the same close minded, lacking compassion crap on here just on a smaller scale. |

It does actually. I don't think Instagram is as bad. Yea you get trolls making stupid and nasty comments but what folk post in general is a lot less angry than Facebook and Twitter. I think on those two it's the sharing/re-tweeting of doom, gloom and propaganda that's the problem. |

It’s a shame some people just see the negative side of Twitter.
If someone came on Fab and said it’s just full of people cheating on their partners, treating others like prostitutes I’m sure others would say it’s not just like that.
Twitter has lots of lovely people on it, if it wasn’t for places like Twitter, Captain Tom, for example, would definitely not have been able to raise as much money as he did.
There’s lots of support on there.
Twitter has filters too for people to use, you can make your account private, you can mute or even block people.
Don’t criticise something you know nothing or very little about. |

I have virtually no presence on social media. I have no interest in broadcasting my life and thoughts to the world. I don't know why anybody else would be interested either. That's just me (Luke). Hannah on the other hand is on Facebook and Twitter all the time. It upsets her a lot at the moment too. |

Summing the thread up for most commenters ‘I went on it for a short amount of time, encountered a small number of people I didn’t like so I left and now I’ll tell everyone it’s awful’ or ‘I’ve never used it but I’ll stick the boot in anyway’
Good twitter thread everyone |

I like twitter, sadly it’s where I get most of my news coverage from about what’s happening in the world, as nowhere else covers it.
I don’t argue with people or get involved, so don’t get called any of those names. I only have 27 followers (had 22k on my last account but hated it so deleted it) and just tweet random shite.
Kinda like fab |

"Fab is incredibly tame in comparison to Twitter and Facebook.
I don't understand why people start throwing glitter around on here saying it's negative because it's a totally different atmosphere.
I think if you’ve popped yourself into twitter for a while you can definitely feel the difference on here, mild by comparison. I could live in a world of glitter though I’ve got to say "
There's glitter on Twitter if you look for it. |

Lately I’ve really got into Twitter, it’s a fascinating mix of information, humour & utter madness.
It’s a bit like here on a massive scale, you get to “know” others that interact with the same people you follow.
I’ve learnt a lot about a lot! |

I have a Twitter account that I use mainly to follow local musicians on. I very rarely write a post on there, but it is linked to my bookface account so anything I post on FB automatically re-posts to Twitter. |

Twitter is good for following things you are interested in, other than that I’m not a poster. As my younger cousins join and follow I tell them not to bother as I don’t post anything. Someone introduced me to naughty twitter, that was an eye opener |
