Apparently 1 in 10 Finns own a Forest. If you owned one what would you do with it? What adventures would await me if I came for a walk in it?

So we've all got our own treehouse, we've got a beautiful waterfall, we need a communal fire pit

A town near you perhaps

We have lots of trees where we live and a waterfall. So bring a sleeping bag, we will light a fire and stay up all night chatting and laughing and whatever else takes our fancy.

The next day we can have sausages cooked on the fire then go off and build dens, climb trees and play games with nerf guns. Doesn't that sound fun.

I had a forest. Not as simple as that and working in the rain and cold.... Takes a special person to keep going at it

Mine would be just as it grows naturally, with a glade full of wildflowers, and lots of birds and animals roaming free. No human built structures allowed.

How big does it have to be before it's considered a forest?

I'd just own a simple forest. I'd name it Gump and let it be as nature decided. Except it'd have a lake with a diving board and sauna....

Ha. So are the forests.

I grew up on a small "farm" (not in Finland) of 50 acres. Half + were woodlands. Not a forest by any stretch. What would I do with it now? Build a shed that blends into the woods and sit outside, breathing the air.

As a kid, we climbed through the ravines and looked out over the river and didn't realize that most people don't have that option.

When my dad dies, it'll be mine again, but til then....I just go there and enjoy while I can.

I've heard, lately, that we should hug a tree when the urge to meet up with someone gets too strong! Need to find that article. Hugging trees is good though. I had a Native American friend (Ojibwe) who hugged every tree she could, when we went on walks.

I do understand it.

I have about 120 acres of mainly foothill slope forest here at the Paw. My house used to be a hunting lodge, but has not been for 3 years. The animals are starting to come back and that is how it will stay
