Emm here ... Tonight is AbFab's bi night. We attend now and again - not as often as we'd like though because of work the next morning.
Of course, tonight is special as there's another bank holiday tomorrow (yayy) so the chances are it'll be busier and lots of fun.
Yesterday morning 'Mother Nature' paid me her monthly visit 5 DAYS EARLY and it's a 'check every 15 minutes' scenario. If I went tonight, I wouldn't be able to go in the pool or jacuzzi and definitely wouldn't be able to play. So thinking it's not worth going at all. How gutted am I?
As the thread title says - tea and sympathy please |

But the tablets only work before you actually come on (unless there are some new ones out)
And as you have to take them from5 days before you ate due in in this circumstance wouldn't have helped
Glad I went with the coil - no periods at all lol

Awwwwwwwwwwwww one Earl Grey coming up.
Go anyway. Wear a hat that says GIVER.
Take some pics of your o/h getting it on with others.
Wank a few people off..
Wear latex panties with a hole in the back and let people feel your arse and rim you.
Get everyone in the place to suck your boobs and apply a few leccy shocks..
Dry hump a few chairs
Don't stay in ...

Unfortunately it's a bank holiday and a) I'm not staying at home and b) it's not not really classed as an emergency so not really an option. Plus, I did it once and omg it messed my cycle up good and proper - I had a week long period from hell afterwards!
I just feel really, really, really pi$$ed off that I'm 5 days early - timing could't have been worse. |

I'm on those - they're called metafemic acid (or something like that). It's a 15 minute check WITH them! I'm at 'that time of life' (just pre-shrivel) and TOTM is just horrendous. Men have NO idea!! |

I had the Mirena coil for over 10 years and, like you, had next to no periods. Went for my third replacement and not only was it grindingly painful having it inserted, I went into bitch mode and had nasty stomach pains after. I lasted 2 months and had it removed.
I was hoping to have dried up by now at my age! |

I was on mefanaemic and transafemic acid combo...didn't have any effect. Talk to your doctor about Zoladex, an implant into your stomach which stops them altogether. It may give you symptoms of the menopause...but you're at "that age" already.
It's made a difference to my life, I don't have to be by the loo for three days every month...and no sweet cravings!
Shame about tonight, here, have a cup of rosey lee and a rich tea biccie. |

That's a great tip - thanks. Are the implants hormonal because I'm a 'bigger lady' and diabetic and they're a bit funny about all stuff hormonal. Not to concerned about the menopausal symptoms - you're supposed to have hot flushes when partying hard!
I should've guessed the red flags were about to fly when we went to the cinema on Saturday night and I chomped my way through a bag of chocolate raisins - but it was either that or punch everyone in the auditorium! |

I'm a size 22 and 6.3 on whatever scale they use for diabetes, which as you know is 6.5, so you should be alright.
If I lose weight I won't become diabetic so there's my incentive. I don't have the sweet cravings. That said came across 30p 100g bars of chocolate in Sainsbury's. Had to buy plain, white and milk to test...and scoffed the lot!

I'll see my GP about this once my holiday is over - thanks!
As for the chocolate, my TOTM is the only time I ever really want it so it really should've been a clue. The only saving grace is that it wasn't a family sized bag of chocolate raisins(although I reckon I probably could've laid waste to one of those as well!) |

yeah, i tried the pill that has the same hormones as the mirena to see if it would suit me. i bled every day for 6 weeks and my moods were either weepy or angry - and i mean likely to get arrested angry! apparently it would have settled in 6 months, but i decided it wasn't worth the risk of ending up in prison or a psychiatric holding ward!! |

Unfortunate but not exactly a big sympathy matter, way worse things have happened at far more inconviniant times. I've seen someone diagnosed with terminal cancer just after paying for their round the world tour. |

Way to go! How to really bring down a thread.
I don't think the OP meant to trivialise more serious issues,( which she herself could have experienced), think this thread was just a rather wry take on nature and all her vagaries. |

I was pointing out that unfortunate things happen and tea and sympathy isn't the solution. If something goes wrong then don't look at how big it is from the inside look at how small it is from the outside and be happy that it wasn't so bad, find a way to make up for it and enjoy yourself.
And for a fact Fia yes I do because I don't make friends with people who can't handle the facts. |

Theres a big diffrence between being fun and being delusional. Maybe you should have even the slightest idea what your talking about before you insult someone and maybe you should try much harder before you insult someones friends. |

I hadn't read the guy's profile - maybe if I had I'd have bowed to his extensive life experience. (I have shoes older than this ...) Of course, I'm just 50 years old and have managed to get through this life with periods being the most traumatic event I've had to encounter.
Incidentally, I listened to the advice given and did go to the day and night event (with a bag full of emergency supplies). I did get a bit down in the mouth during the day as I couldn't do anything but at night, as granny suggested, I donned my glad rags and became 'giver' for the evening and had a jolly good time.
Thanks to everyone for your tea and sympathy - you helped me through one of the most monumentally traumatic days of my entire existence!! (said with tongue firmly in cheek for anyone who isn't quite experienced enough to differentiate between light-hearted and serious)

Thank you. Must point out though I have only had ceasarians which apparently makes it hurt more because 'not stretched' by childbirth
But if you google it you will find many saying it hurts. Doctor advised me to take double doses of paracetamol and ibruprophen before I go and to ensure someone else drives home. The pain and cramping only lasted that evening though and had no other discomfort at all
Dispite this initial pain I still think its the best thing I have ever done contraception and period wise x

I had the Mirena coil 3 times. First time was 6 months after I had my youngest and it was inserted very quickly with minimal discomfort (took maybe 20 seconds). Second and third times I could've done with some gas and air!! It took 20 minutes one time and thirty minutes the other ... and OMG the agony!! Maybe it depends on the skill of the person inserting it as much as anything. |

I had my (not mirena) coil fitted by the family planning clinic after my GP told me I'd be tricky. The first appointment I had the nurse was scathing about my GPs ability to judge and said she'd have no bother... One exam later and she admitted I'd need the consultant.
It did in fact take three consultants and two nurses... But I didn't need pain relief and drove myself home after minimal discomfort - crampy discomfort.
BTW have done a little research on what to use for play when on a period. Search for Beppy soft comfort tampons |

Just had a look-see ... how can I put this delicately? Errm - where does all the backed up blood go? Or do you have to fish around up there, pull the Beppy out followed closely by a scarlet Tsunami? |
