Because a lot of people genuinely can't differentiate between lively and informative discussion of opinions and personal attack. Some people use personal insult instead of counter argument and some take counter argument as personal insult. You can't enjoy a discussion like that

A snowflake is a person who is easily offended by an issue and puts up a vigorous argument to defend it, but woe betide anyone who disagrees with them even if it is a reasonable logical argument/ opinion. They shout down the opposing argument (uasually by mob rule) or worse still they deny any person or group the chance to state their case.

For example look at universities that ban guest speakers, many of those who are respected knowledgeable academics, just in case these snowflakes learn something that they don’t agree with and they have to go running off to their safe space.

God help them in the real world!

Snowflake refers to a generation of people that appear to be more easily offended than previous generations. Nobody here coined the phrase but all are free to use it if they wish. To suggest someone shouldnt use it limits free speach and thats much worse crime against humanity.

Been called it more times than I care to remember - usually by people with a different opinion to me who are unable to debate their point rationally and reasonably so resort to using it as a put down and a means of expressing their argument - it's no different from white knight as a term that has been misappropriated and misused.

If I believe strongly enough in something I'll express my opinion, but am open to having it challenged rationally and intelligently - doesn't make me a snowflake just makes me someone with an opinion

Think alot aren't angry just unaware of so much....watched a show the other day about 1970 factory life, where they take a group of women and treat them like its 1970 lol the young girls were shocked and didn't realise it was their grans who sat outside factories on strike to get equal pay etc they also enjoyed being in the beauty parade lol lots of things they never knew existed..... hence they react different to older ones. ..

It's hard to summarise a life of experience in a few words! That's why they can't explain lol little Britain was a star show not long ago, now it's vile, but eating live animals on I'm a celebrity is OK. .... So many of the things don't tally, we care about the environment and cheer David Attenborough onto the stage during a concert to raise money, but leave 20 tons of plastic behind afterwards..... Hurray.

Think it's those things that make people think snowflake, I need work but not picking vegetables coz I'm better than that.... right on sister.... where's all the vegetarians when you need them... theres a hypocrisy at play....

Just had a conversation with a guy, yes Winston was racist but he did help stop Hitler. .. on balance hurray. Nelson Mandela was a good guy, but he did quite like domestic violence. ..... then I got the it's not the same la la la... ignoring the point people aren't perfect and if you are only having statues of perfect people there won't be any lol .. but we'll judge and remove, coz we know better than you.... coz your old young left right ... plastic phone but never did a paper round or collected the glass bottles lol thats why people see snow, perhaps?

Snowflakes are desensitised and overly sensitive.

They are desensitised to things that don’t offend them because it doesn’t suit their narrative of “social justice” and overly sensitive to things that do offend them because it gives them something to put on “the gram”.

The problem with believing your own narrative of being an “individual” means that at some point in the near future you have the crashing realisation that you don’t belong.

If you are intolerant to others opinions whilst demanding tolerance to your opinions you create an echo chamber of outrage for outrage sake.

I pity the person that is unable to find balance in life, they will have the highest of highs, but the lowest of lows, that’s a trade I will not make.

Perhaps rather than suggest a skin colour or genetics is the reason perhaps the disrespect in the host society towards the skin colour more accurately reflects a slightly higher percentage

To be honest, I think the "snowflake" badge is often handed out by people who don't like the fact that others are pointing out the error of their ways.

Near where I live there were nationally notorious cases of child abuse, they were prosecuted and received long sentences.

For some reason the critics ignored the white perpetrators.

Fortunately acceptance and therapy have come a long way in some circles.

It's just a pity that a term for a severe consequence of PTSD is used to imply that people who disagree with a position are somehow psychologically unstable.

Good discussion.. Here's another angle. I wonder how many of those vociferously protesting and by adjunct now digging into historical aspects of slavery, give a crap about modern day slavery and where their 200 pound trainers or designer jackets were made and distributed. We can't change the past but we can certainly choose how and what products we buy today.
