It has always been this.
That's why the economy figures have been bandied, about during the pandemic.
Look at New Zealand, they beat Covid and were told have a party and get the economy going again.
Due to the joke of a lockdown, we will still be fighting covid, while a lot of countries will be kick starting their economy. |

What makes Jaws such a great movie is the acting, the dialogue, and the absence of a shark (what you don't see is far scarier than what you do see).
The shark, when it does appear,is almost comical, especially at the end when it eats Quint,it chews on him offs. All credit to Spielberg that he could make such a classic with such a dud of a model.
Peter Benchley has been on record as saying he regrets the undeserved reputation that sharks have now because of the inaccurate way he depicted them in his novel.
The shark in Jaws does not attack in the way that Great Whites do. The killing of the boy on the lilo was the closest to reality in that great Whites usually come up from beneath and behind, delivering a devastating bite then retreat and let the prey bleed out. Then they come back to feast at leisure.
The shark in Jaws behaves much more like a tiger shark, biting lumps out of its prey, eating them alive, and most of all, attacking under the surface.
Tiger sharks and great whites are very different creatures and not really closely related. Neither are evil, just hungry.Humans would make a pretty poor meal for them,we are too much skin and bone. They'd much prefer a nice juicy seal, turtle or just fish,we are just not on their menu.
The Mayor of Amity was kind of proved right, though. You don't get very far by hiding away from your nightmare and wrecking your economy. You've got to go out and fight it or pay someone to fight it for you.

"Another major difference between sharks and viruses is that sharks very rarely attack you in your own home, you have to put yourself in harms way. Only yourself to blame then."
If you live in a small houseboat you are fair game for those evil buggers of the sea.. brave shipwrecked souls have been taken to Davey Jones Locker by these monsters..

I think you may be thinking of giant squid or krakens or some other mythical sea monsters.
Sharks just want a kiss and a cuddle, they just can't help being so clumsy. They really don't mean to rip peoples leg off, it's their way of being affectionate and they truly regret any inconvenience caused. |

For those who have not seen a victim of a shark attack, and I have, it's not pretty..
Watch Jaws.. it's dated and old but a bloomin accurate portrayal of what happens..
Stay alert in the sea and stay safe.. |

Sharks are attracted to noisy, frantic splashing noises. It's even pointed out in Jaws.
So,the best thing to do if you see a shark is to very calmly point it out to somebody else,,,,then they panic and splash around frantically, the shark goes after them and you swim away in the opposite direction. |

The point I find most interesting is putting the economy before the safety of the swimmers...
Bit like pubs desperate to reopen despite the risks ...
What's a customer's health when you can make a few quid ? |

When the crisis is over, you have to have an economy to come back to.
In the novel, the mayor was up to his neck in debt to the mob, he was quite ok to sacrifice some tourists to keep the town profitable. The trouble is, no one would be going to those beaches once word got out so, by burying his head in the sand, he would have been burying the town too. |

Don’t really show the scar in my pics but it’s there as a reminder to never swim in the sea again, I even got slightly nervous in a hotel pool last year! |

Great Great film. Near perfect in my eyes!
Best bit being, it was inspired by actual events.
The 1916 Jersey Shore attacks centred around Matawan Creek.
Very interesting to read up on, I'd recommend it |

I read that since the lockdown more dangerous beasts are coming closer to the shores because of the lack of human activity.. as this increases there will be a collision ...
Stay out of the sea, stay safe, |
