When the second coronavirus spike comes, which it probably will, your phone will tell you it was because people protested against citizens being tortured to death in the street in a free democracy like yours.

They won’t mention the impact of reopening schools or McDonalds or sending people back to work on jam-packed trains.

They won’t tell you that people selling decking paint were “key workers.”

They won’t mention the weeks of healthcare workers risking their lives at the peak of the pandemic without adequate PPE, partly because our government was selling it abroad and turning down requests from small producers.

They won’t mention that black people are dying of the virus at three times the rate of white people. In the USA, that’s about one in two thousand of the entire black population.

They won’t mention that we are going to miss out on a chunk of the two trillion euro economic recovery fund being offered by the EU to members because a professional liar promised £350million a week for the NHS, yet we’re still supporting that by clapping on a Thursday night.

They won’t mention the fact they spent three months avoiding telling you to wear face coverings before changing their minds and saying “oh... right... yeah, you need to do that now...” (do note that the vast majority of the protesters are wearing face coverings)

They won’t talk about the over-reporting of testing. Got a testing kit and eaten it with Nando’s sauce? The government have still counted it as one test towards their 100,000 per day target, and still praise themselves at every press conference.

They won’t show you photos of VE Day conga lines but they will show you pictures of graffitied wartime heroes, white marble plinths which can be cleaned a lot easier than half a millennia of blood on our hands.

They won’t say British Covid deaths accounted for 10% of the global total, despite the fact British people make up less than 1% of the global population.

They won’t show this picture. Ice Cream Matters.

They’ll tell you it was millennials with a black square that caused this.

Question your media.

Question your government.

Question their agendas.

Question what they have to gain from your hate and your anger and the divisions they have been perfecting for centuries.

You're asking people to think freely out of the book? It's easier to be a sheep than facing the crowds. Common sense is dead. Racism and xenophoby are the word of the day in the UK...

Some are in the streets protesting because of the death of a black guy but once they go back home, first thing they do is complain about the Indian driver, the polish neighbors, the EU nurses etc etc etc...

How do you expect us to live in a better country is people don't stop to think?

"Yep

I posted this sort of text on FB and so many people argued with me "

Well they’re idiots; this whole thing has been handled terribly and it’s everyone else that will suffer. The way this government works is ‘blame someone else’; this isn’t an infringement on your liberties, it’s a health emergency. People are dying needlessly and it’s a mixture of heartbreaking and sheer anger.

Someone argued with me, she was moaning about people being so selfish as to protest now, while there’s a pandemic.

I told her it’s sad that the world is so shit that people feel they have to protest now, while a pandemic is going on.

So the argument started

It’s okay though

She has black friends

She ain’t racist

I think the original message about living in the past was based on nostalgia, perhaps the OP like the style of dress or music from that era, but you had to use it to have a dig about racism.

That’s the problem at this present time people looking for racist connotations in any innocent remark

“Methinks the lady doth protest too much”
