"Oh wait a minute, there was a time when a woman replied to man who winked in 2004, but he just had something in his eye "
They laugh about it now, great times |

I've had some great conversations which started with either me winking or receiving one myself.
Couple of friends and meets have been made from them too |

I think they can work. I've found, if a guy (normally straight or bicurious) can't pluck up the courage to send a message, they'll wink. It's a small step that I can then choose to repay by sending a message if I'm interested. I've met (or chatted to) many guys who started off by sending me a wink! |

If someone smiles and winks at you when you are out in a pub, you’d quickly strike up a conversation... that’s not gonna happen anytime soon tho ... so why not on here ? Try it and see what happens ... you may be surprised |

Yeah I think its a good way to Mabey start something, its a hello i see you, the annoying ones for me is when you may want to message back to say thanks, and you are out of there age range |

I don’t think anything has ever come of a wink.
I got a wink yesterday from a “single female”. I sent her a message back thanking her. She sent me one back thanking me and saying she liked my pictures then nothing. Lol. |

We wink if we are just having a quick browse and someone catches our eye. If someone winks us we look at the profile and if we like what we see we ping them a message xx |

We've been on here for around 10 years and in all that time have only replied to around half a dozen winks. I wouldn't care to guess from how many thousand.
We do look at most profiles but if there is nothing related to our area or we just don't fancy him/her/them.
Our criteria is as follows.
No pic = ignore/delete.
Crappy heading = ignore/delete.
Thumbnail pic does nothing for us = ignore/delete.
From there on we will look at the profile then:
No mention of our area = ignore/delete.
Profiles that are too cock orientated = ignore/delete.
One or two line profiles = ignore/delete.
A decent profile that mentions that he/she/they are in or visit our area = interested.
Once interested if we like what we see we will probably fire off a thanks for the wink message.
In all the years we have met and played with only one guy that started with a wink on here.

I've had 1 woman wink me and we'll be meeting post-COVID (assuming she doesn't get bored of me before then ) - 100% success rate
I've winked a fair few women in the past and have had no responses! - 100% fail rate
So I guess winks probably work better for women than men based on my extensive research. |

We do look at winks, but if you're not in the category we're looking for and we think theres a chance of a decent connection and conversation, you might just get deleted |

We generally like to use the wink system as it states on our bio. Sometimes it saves time on messaging someone if they aren't interested. Obviously if they wink back we will drop them a message of if we receive a wink and we like them then we normally go straight for a message rather than wink back.
If we read on someone's bio that they do not respond to winks then if we like the look of them we will inbox them. Each to the own weather they like using the system or not. |

If I get a wink I will always look a the profile and if I like the tone of what I am reading and the profile suggests they are the kind of person I am interested in meeting I will always send a reply. |

Sometimes. One of the guys I speak to most regularly (and will definitely by meeting after lockdown ) winked at me first, then I messaged him.
But I only glance at my winks about once a week if I’m honest. |

"I'll wink
IMO it gives the person/couple an opportunity to message IF interested.
Sometimes I like to message just to compliment if I see or read, not bothered if I get a reply really "
Dippy I meant if I see something I LIKE or read |

I (her) don't pay any attention to our winks. Mr went through them last night and told me that we have had a lot from couples recently. I would much rather receive a little intro message.
I totally understand that sending a wink is often just a nice indication of interest. It's just the function doesn't get used by me or us.

Yeah! Making my cheeks hurt kinda bad
An example - Trip down memory lane...
Doooooook! OP I have shared this in similar past threads so for all the new winkers out there...
Years ago as a newbie (don't laugh we were all newbies once) I used to be one of those trigger happy winkers! Couldn't get enough. Wasn't like I was expecting anything in return it was more like just a fun thing to do. If I liked something they wrote or something caught my eye or anything that just made me smile I will be winking... here there and everywhere...
Wink! Wink!
Ooooh look at that forum post! Winked!
I winked a woman... I know, right! Something to do with she was not happy with guys mistreating her etc so I thought a wink from me would sort that out... pffffft ! At that time my profile was even more basic than now... she just looked at my profile, but did not respond for 3 days... when she did I went off on one... 3 days... I been waiting 3 feckin days... literally full blown venting frustration as to why it took so long... (Hey! I was a newbie and didn't know how things work on here. Still don't to be honest )
I was like winking takes effort. Not easy you know! She was having non of it, but conversation flowed... not going into details again, but to do with clubs. Ended up with her telling me to prove it... show her if I was telling her the truth... show her I am the real deal or to good to be true! I know, how cheeky was she ffs
So...
We met! Yes Fab miracles do happen. She knew my love of food. For some reason pretty much all of my interactions/conversations have had food themes over the years... strange, but kinky! Many happy memories with her on our regular adventures we used to go on. A wink led to her making pancakes... breakfast in her bed
Winks are fun and can lead to real pleasurable moments. For the record I have not been part of the proud winking society for a long time. Because not much of a winker now, but have recieved some lovely, unexpected winks in recent times... so who knows! Winks could be making a come back haha
Please not. This is important. Serious cap is on:
There are Fabbers that don't like winks. They hate it so much to the point they edit profile to say things like "wink and get blocked" "don't bother winking" "winks ignored" etc please read profiles and respect others wishes. Don't pester.
In other words...
Be a responsible winker!
Have fun and happy # |
