When the Olympic torch passed through my local area i was too busy trying to capture every moment on camera i forgot to take a step back and enjoy the celebrations and event.
I've noticed that i just constantly look through a lens trying to get the perfect pictures.
Is it best to sit back and live the event to recall in later life, or is it a good idea to try and capture the moment/atmosphere within a picture?
I am constantly taking pictures of my child and often reflect by looking at video footage and various pictures and it helps me reflect at the funny times. Im glad i have those images, but is it so much better to soak it all in and use the grey matter to recall things? |

I find that's the beauty with digital cameras - I watch the event, and just point the camera generally in the right direction, put the camera on multi-shoot and keep my finger on the button. Not only do I see all the event with my own eyes, I get some really interesting pics! |

Good question, when I went backpacking round the world I hardly took any photos, and to be honest dont bother to look back at them as the memories are so good. However since ive become a dad ive taken quite a few family pics, and do look back on some of them occasionally i may have missed out on moments but do try to relish those special times. As for the answer Im not sure. Id say its somewhere in the middle, don't forget to record your special memories with kid/kids as they are special but avoid losing yourself in the photography that you disengage in the moment all the time. The camera will definately do that if you are not careful. |

That's why I love shooting bands but hate shooting bands ! I spend so much time concentrating on getting the right shots that I rarely actually take in how good a band are !
It's actually a treat these days to pay to get into a gig and enjoy it, rather than be shooting it from the pit ! |

love my Fugi F30 with underwater housing, taken thousands of pics with it, mainly underwater but a few on the surface. Best thing I ever did was take a course specialising in compact cameras I now get some great shots |

I see the beauty in most things..and I liked to share some tings people have never seen (I've managed to make my wee adopted pet snails look cute to some people lol..I love to study something.
I'm not much of a memories type person, I like to see things as the moment in its vividness ..altho I can change the perception by editing of course.
anyway...off to find somethings to photograph (like last nites 3hr nature walk lol)-atho...I'm keen to get some filthy action pics SOON! |

On the flipside, no matter what I'm doing, if I don't have my camera I can guarantee my Inner Photographer will be chattering away: "Now THIS would make a brilliant pic!".
Gah.
