Douching is in my experience best. I have a shower attachment that works really well.
Use butt plugs of increasing sizes and lots of lube to get used to it.
Rimming is good for getting in the mood.
Liquid silk lube has never failed me in making the whole experience pleasurable rather than painful. |

Some good advice above OP - a lot may depend on how much you've already played in that area before too - if not at all, I'd maybe try walking before you run - buy an "anal beginners kit" from LH and get used to the sensations and having things put there, experiment with fingers etc find what works for you.
Likewise depending on the size of the strap on, even if you have played before if it's a larger one maybe start of with smaller things first before diving in.
And always remember you can never too much lube, but you can use too little |

Good quality lubricants. If you cant get it, you could use coconut oil, which are all sold in supermarkets. Start small, with your finger then work your way up to toys.
