As you know I am into fitness and I like to do different challenges, we will start on monday and finish in august, so we got 2 days to get ready.
I am already feeling excited about this, are you ready to do what it takes from a to z? It doesnt have to be a big change, my goal is to just be more defined, what is your goal and who else is in? Lets talk about fitness and what type of program you might do. I will be in a slight calorie deficit, training with lots of cardio. I will use this thread thoughout to post more updates and how it goes, it will be fun |

Not really ‘carpe diem spirit’, but I’m waiting until the gyms re-open.
Time wasted? Yep, but unless I can do something properly I tend not to bother.
When they’re back though, I’m on weights and looking to get a proper diet plan. |

Yeah mate you defo need more definition... you look like a right fat knacker on your 23rd April pic!
If only you could have a body like us chiselled 40 somethings.
I've recently got into long walks, building myself up to running again slowly and I've got a few free weights in my apartment. I'm on a reduced calorie "diet" and I'm aiming to mix in some "Insanity" workout videos once my WiFi is sorted to allow me to stream them without incessant buffering.
My little sister is getting married in October so I want to actually look forward to being in the wedding photos instead of refusing to look at myself looking like a Goodyear blimp! |

Abs, abs and abs. I want them more defined than they currently are and am willing to endure pain to achieve this. My daily ab # will now be doubled....perhaps tripled. |

I'd be up for this. I really want to drop in weight and could do with some accountability.
Perhaps if others are looking to do the same we could support each other and cheer each other on? |

I’m running a fair bit at the moment, what with the gyms being shut and having too much time on my furloughed hands.
I can do 5k quite comfortably but I want to get to 10k. It’s proving to be a tough call, at about 7k I hit a wall and my motivation disappears.
So I’m in, before I plateau. |

If you don't mind me saying, I lost 1 stone in a year. That's without going to any gym(I use to have a David Lloyd tennis membership, but cancelled it last year. Because I was working away from home). And since then the only thing that really changed was I started eating more fruits(always fresh and not ready prepared or cut from cartons you buy from the shop's), and I've been having multiple orgasm's pretty much everyday! I usually put in a couple of hours a night. So there's your gym tip for the day. |

Me too. I want to get back to a size of a dress I kept for years as it was something I really love. Not sure if that's achievable in 3 months but as close as I can get haha
And yes accountability always helps! |

Try keeping a food diary, there is an app called my fitness pal that allows you to do this, you can then work out how many calories you’re eating and it breaks it down in to carbs, fats etc but you have to be honest with it |

I’ve already been trying to transform so I can emerge from lockdown like an available weapon but without the gyms open it’s hard. I know I can do stuff at home and I do go for long walks and runs when I can. I also know I can do online body weight workouts at home but I won’t do them. If I’m home I’ll be doing something, cleaning, ironing, watching Netflix. When I’m properly training I only do 20 minutes of cardio and about 45 mins weights, it’s splits it’s routine it’s specific days and I know where I am. I do classes my yoga, body pump, circuits. I could do them in the house but I won’t do them, I haven’t got the equipment and it’s not the same as turning up to a class to do an hour, when you’re there you gotta do it. You can’t stop cos someone’s messaged you or anything else.
Also when you’re on the treadmill or Xtrainer and you see how hard you’ve had to work just to burn 100 calories it psychologically stops me from wanting to pick up a bar of galaxy and eat it.
I need to be in the gym because this lockdown stuff is messing with my mood and with boredom I’m eating shit and it’s all visceral fat going straight on my belly cos I’m stressed and producing more cortisol than normal.
But I will try from Monday again, both my sister and I were already discussing doing a diet. |

Good morning Shag.
I am on this.
I have already started cutting back in chocolate. I can now go a couple of days without it.
My aim is intermittent fasting to increase my activity and squat alot. I know I am capable because I have done this before but like others have said this is not easy. Lockdown is hard.
But I'm determined to be healthier in 3 months.
Good luck.

I know obviously the best thing would be to either tackle the cause of the stress or work on stress management but personally I've found ashwagandha really helpful. It helps lower cortisol levels and I personally find when I'm a bit more chilled it's easier to do othet stuff to manage stress. When I'm all tense and angsty I can't relax enough to do yoga or meditating or deep breathing or anything like that. |

It’s not major stress it’s just trivial stuff like I hate my house being a mess and my daughter is an absolute lazy shit, her carpet in her bedroom is caked in makeup and she likes to leave glasses of milk all around the house that start to curdle and she likes to try all her clothes on that I’ve just ironed and hung up and then she’ll try them on and scrunch them up in a ball and then when I ask her to tidy her room she’ll gather up all the clean clothes and throw them in the washing basket. Plus her attitude is getting like me basically but a mini version and it takes all my control not to smack the lips off her face.

Id like my stomach more toned up so it doesnt all crinkle up when I bend over. I dont know whether its more loose skin that would be better being filled up with biscuits, or more muscle tone needed Ive been trying the biscuits so guess I could go with the exercise now. Im so lazy for exercises though. |

Yes but it's two hours of joy and happiness. Rather than two hours of torture at the gym. Which would you rather have? To be honest though my transformation only happen after my first body orgasm's. Since then it's a constant change. It was rather scary at first. Where my body vibrated and shook uncontrollably. |

I’m in.
I have weight to lose and also I have a fitness test for work to pass.
I was running 10k a couple of times a week until I injured my ankle last year, I can’t do high impact things like running for the time being so I’ve been using my rowing machine and bike.
Just recovering from covid (which incidentally lost me 11lv in 5 days ) so will hopefully get back on it next week as my energy levels return. |

You’ve only got a tiny layer of fat covering your abs, you’re around 26% body fat and you can already see your obliques a tiny bit, drop to 24% and the top of your abs will pop, you’d have to get down to around 16% for all 6 of them to have proper definition and around 14% for you to get that lovely V! Diet will do that, no sugar at all, not even fresh fruit if you wanted to do it quickly, just stick to vegetables. More protein, very few carbs, like less than 50 grams a day.
You can’t really spot reduce fat but you could do planks, Russian twists, mountain climbers, scissors kicks and loads of crunches!
But as you look now I’d be happy to have your stomach as it is now. |

You're a bit late - after 2.5 months of lockdown I've transformed my body already.
Back in March I was a bit of a lump. Now I'm almost perfectly spherical. I put it down to a diet of biscuits, lockdown stress and fuck-all exercise.
Anyone who wants tips - or exclusive pix- please PM me.

Nice one Jonas! Always perfect timing with your threads. I used gardening for my full body workouts as warmup. Now that is ready, next 3 months June/July/August is going to be a sizzling summer so all my equipment is going outside into the designated areas. It's going to be like a proper circuit training.
My neighbours are going to see my lockdown efforts in a live day to day training routine. Mainly it's going to be for fun, passing time and taking my mind off other things... ahem! Only way I will survive so had to make preparations. My tunes are ready! I'm ready.
Lockdown workout! Bring it on! Smash your goals fellow Fabbers. I don't usually get that involved in these workout threads because Jonas and others have it covered, but now it's different so I will use some of my time to share things my way just how I do on other topics...
Beginners, advanced, everyone else and just the savvy ones... if you're willing to participate and set your goals big or small... this can help in overall health. Physically/mentally or you can use us for jokes and laugh.
Ps. My fave lurkers! Ain't forgetting you lot. Keep hitting green arrows on your chosen forum posters and follow the journey while you do things privately, but if you're feeling it get involved and share some of your top tips.
We can do this. Good luck everyone |

"Nice one Jonas!
Good luck everyone " Yw pal and yes this thread was a good timming too as it is summer soon, that sounds like a fun workout in the garden you are doing as well, that is right we can do this |

"You're a bit late - after 2.5 months of lockdown I've transformed my body already.
Back in March I was a bit of a lump. Now I'm almost perfectly spherical. I put it down to a diet of biscuits, lockdown stress and fuck-all exercise.
Anyone who wants tips - or exclusive pix- please PM me.
Mr K
Mr Kipling?
Yes please! Battenburg's my favourite. Nice of you to offer
Haha I was wondering if that's what Mr K was short for? "
No. It's Mr Kinkyfun2013. But you can call me K. If you'd like to call me at all, that is. |

"Id like my stomach more toned up so it doesnt all crinkle up when I bend over. I dont know whether its more loose skin that would be better being filled up with biscuits, or more muscle tone needed Ive been trying the biscuits so guess I could go with the exercise now. Im so lazy for exercises though.
Just worked out my bodyfat using US navy method and mine is 12.7% and I've definitely got no abs. So if you want abs, think exercise is the only way (I hate exercise too) |

Diet pretty much always trumps exercise
However the correct exercise and not to excess is important if only for hormone balance
My advice to get below 10 as a man would be
Daily 10 mins intervals
Daily hour to two walk
Half hour heavy weights
Use mfp to track cals and eat 500 below low carb not keto
How did you assess body fat ?

What about low impact though. I’m recovering from a bad knee injury. Physio says upper body and abs but all my strength is in thighs (being a rugby girl!) |

I cycle to work about 15 miles every day, have done for about 4 years but since lockdown I’ve lost about half a stone, not sure how, probably changed eating habits. Feeling good at the moment, long cycle at weekends |

Yeah I'm down for this.
I was so unfit at the start of lockdown. I'm now doing 5k runs every second day.
I've started intermittent fasting this week, I've done it before and trimmed down so that alongside the running should sort me right out. |

We are starting tomorrow, who else is in? I will be tracking my calories on the mynetdiary app it is fun and interactive, in there are an apple and as you log the calories it goes around the edge until it reaches the other side. I will eat about 2600 calories and I will be following a flexible diet approach as it is easier to diet this way as you can swap and change what you fancy |

Cycling (if physio says it's ok) and wall assisted squats and lots of walking.
I'm just about to start introducing high impact again for the first time in 22 months, last attempt in November didn't go well. |

I'm in - I've become way too friendly with my snack cupboard since lockdown.
I'll have to start a week or two late because I'm due for surgery next week and self isolating to prep for it this week.
I really want to do couch 2 5k, I've never made it past week 5 before my motivation drops off. And I also need to build my strength back up before my Jujitsu classes open back up. |

Great idea!
We are still working out 3-4 times a week. Usually, total body conditioning using what kit we have at home and with support from our PT. much harder at home.
Shag, some questions:
Is your avatar pic current?
Macros? Do you monitor closely?
And do you drink alcohol?
We love our food and a glass of wine and di fund it hard to make that final weight loss..
Good luck! |

My experience is
That final weight loss after a certain age is absolutely benefited by alcohol reduction
Macros should be kept to
120 carb 150 protein and 65 fat
Or 30 35 35 in percent
That's a person using 2000 cals reduced to 1600 for 1 lb fat loss weekly
The exact ratio does not need to be so strict until below 10 percent body fat
However the calorie deficit does need to be maintained
Quality fat loss will not occur until the muscles have reduced in glycogen
Alcohol is instant food cannot be stored as glycogen and messes with hormones
As you drop your calories below your daily requirement your movements will slow and reduce
One needs to be aware an increase low impact movement
Walking is my go to
Anything higher impact will vastly increase appetite

Good luck! " Yes my pic is from yesterday. I dont do macros as I focus more to reach the calories and I yes monitor it everyday. I dont drink. I usually just have a drink on occasions. I also like food but it is all about portion control, like I might have the same meal as in the bulking phase the difference is I eat alot less of the same food, for example I like greek yogurt and I usually have 300g of it daily, but now in the cutting phase I just have 100g. I sometimes mix and change so I can allow to have that amount so it fits in the calorie limit. I might takeaway the sandwitch or something else for that day, you can still have wine but alot less of it. I like the challange of eating less as well. |

Thanks both..
Ultimately, it’s about how much you want it.. and now in our 50’s we tend to trade off dropping those few extra pounds for a bit of indulgence in food and wine..
That said, nothing like a challenge to focus the mind..
Time for a workout! |

Still got some chocolate left but I’m in.
I need to lose about 2 stones ideally - but I’ll be working on it half a stone at a time!
I won’t be doing anything drastic - just trying to eat smaller portions and put more fruit veg and salad in the mix.
I walk the dog every day anyway - but may try to put in a few minutes of fat burning in a few times a week too!

I am still in. Started a food diary as I want to eat more mindfully. Just like Justpeachy I am not a fan of drastic diets, just going back to healthier habits as lockdown was too much of an excuse to slack a little. Here is to a good start everyone |

I’ll follow this thread and see where it goes!
My scales say that I’m 18% body fat, and I’d like to see my abs. My obliques seem to be showing through a little.
My diet is the hinderence though, I get a sweet craving every day!
I’m doing 2x5km runs a week and then 3 or 4 cardio/weighted HIIT sessions for 30-40 mins at a time.
I always feel knackered during them, and then I feel like I could do another workout about 10 mins after. Laziness is the thing stopping me!
I’ve actually lost 2kgs during lockdown, which isn’t what I wanted! I wanted to try to increase my muscle mass and keep a good level of fitness (being able to run 10km).
I’m unfortunately I don’t think increasing muscle mass and wanting my abs to show go hand in hand haha. |

Forever? Ongoing?
When I did intermittent fasting before, once I got to my target weight, I used to then just do one day week to maintain. |

It was a good first day and I finished the day with 2400kcal which is 200kcal less of the target. I like to go abit lower cos I put those 200 extra calories in the bank to use later on the weekend, so I can eat abit more on friday and saturday, it is the weekly calories that matters and mine are at 18200 calories, calorie cycling is a good option to do as well, how was your first day? |

I am already feeling excited about this, are you ready to do what it takes from a to z? It doesnt have to be a big change, my goal is to just be more defined, what is your goal and who else is in? Lets talk about fitness and what type of program you might do. I will be in a slight calorie deficit, training with lots of cardio. I will use this thread thoughout to post more updates and how it goes, it will be fun "

Having a catch up in here and looking good
My countdown is 4 more days! Can't wait. Doing my final prep and finishing off non essential food... ahem! Music... this is important for any workout sessions. Get you in the mood and can be a great source of motivation especially if exercising alone and social distancing!
Everyone knows Rocky, Eye of the Tiger is standard in any playlist, but here is another catchy tune... you've got to pump it up, pump it up!

Little update. I said i was going to start walking more and upping my activity as some weeks habe seen me do less than 40k steps a whole week. Im at 78,000 so far after 3.5 days and intend on gwtting through 100k by the end of tomorrow. That allows for me to have a steadier weekend as i have the kids. I weighed this morning and am at 195lbs.... want to shed another 7-10 lbs and then focus on building muscle mass... one step at a time though!! |

How long should you bulk/cut for? Here is my tips, you can bulk till you dont see your abs and you could cut depending how lean you wanna get to how much you want your abs to show, the more you want them to show, the longer the cut should be. |

Enjoy!" 80s montage music and cartoon theme tunes work surprisingly well. I'm talking about Transformers, the Racoons, MASK, even Karate Kid. Try it! |

Ah yes, Karate Kid. Original back in the day was great, but I prefer Ip Man.

I've lost a stone in the past month but I seem to have hit a brick wall. I'm tracking my calories and exercise. The output is more than the input but I'm sticking. It could be my age and slower metabolism which means more exercise, or less calories. I'll give it 100% for another week and see what happens |

I think it takes mostly from vinyasa/flow. I just found a programme on amazon thanks to one of the posters here. she incorporated some HIIT in it another day too. I like it varies. And its challenging but not impossible for me.

I'm coming out about 1600-1800 calories a day which is hopefully enough for slow weightloss. Also tried cleat whey isolate for the first time today and its a real game changer! Blows my mind that there's so much protein in a clear, refreshing drink. I much prefer it to normal protein powder. |

It is day 24, how is it going for you? It is going fine for me and I have just uploaded a progress pic. I can start to see more seperations between the muscle groups and my abs are getting tigher. I have also notice my veins are starting to pop out more, the vein on my right shoulder is showing more too, it is fun |

Its amazing how quickly time flies, I am back to the size I was before lockdown and the squats, lunges, lifts and cardio has kept my fitness at a average level so going back to work has been a breeze with no muscle seizures or aches from over exertion |

Going from doing 0 to 5k during lockdown and speeding up doing it, so thought I'd add in some weight training this week.
Following this mens health plan, today was glutes and quads. Bloody hell!!
I tried to do a 20 min run afterwards but I couldn't actually run, so ended up doing 30 min walk looking like a penguin. |

Got about 25lb off since January and I'm as light as I was at 13. Really happy with that, but I'm torn now whether to continue to get the definition, or whether to try to add a little more mass. I've been training predominantly calisthenics due to gyms being closed, but I still consider myself a novice and quite frankly the idea of having lost so much and looking to gain weight back is a little daunting.

Think I need to adjust my calories as I seem to have lost some mass in the past month following a slight cut. None of my trousers fit anymore since lock down. My abs are only slightly showing but more visible than before so hard to know which way to go. |

"I’ve already been trying to transform so I can emerge from lockdown like an available weapon but without the gyms open it’s hard.
" I have one of those daughters as well lol |

Funny actually, pre lockdown my PT had said that it was time to shift gears towards strength training following the weight loss. I've been trying to introduce more food slowly but I obviously haven't been doing it well. Liar another 3lb since lol. |

The 2020 summer shredding is finally over and what a few fun months its been, how have it gone for you? I have just posted a progress pic, so what have I learnt? I have learnt that small portion control is the key, to be in a calorie deficit and as well lots of cardio, also having a refeed day once a week, usually it was on a sunday, so what is next? Tomorrow I will start a slow bulk to 1st of january then it starts over again to prepare for the next summer. I will increase the calories to 2700 from 2500 and each month increase the calories a little bit. I already miss the summer shredding |

A very informative thread especially for someone who is trying to lose a few pounds and tone up the mummy tummy. The question is should the haribos be consumed pre or post workout? |

" Ty and I wish you luck as well in your fitness goal, the best time to eat the haribos is after as it will be absorbed quicker, as your muscles crave more sugar after the workout, having said that you still have to track how many haribos you eat. I allow myself 10 haribo gummy bears a day and on the weekend 20 on saturdays and sundays. I also follow flexible dieting and with that philosophy it doesnt feel like dieting as you can enjoy all the foods in all the food groups, how is your training going? |

I’ve been using mynetdiary to track what I am eating and have turned the leisurely dog walks into jogs. I have just started back at the gym, mostly cardio but I am looking to join in some classes once they are back up and running properly. I was thinking yoga or Pilates but they do a legs bums and tums one which has been highly recommended. |

Looking good Shag
I tend to put weight on in the summer due to under activity as I get heat exhaustion very quickly, but I managed to keep my leg muscle tone up with in sea walking in the mornings.
Looking forward to the cooler days for beach yoga and forest hiking to start up again so I can return to my normal fitness level |

Today was my first gym session since lock down. Strength has decreased a lot predictably but I will try to enjoy the process of regaining some of the muscle mass and seeing the strength gains return. I don't really have a plan so perhaps I'll do mini cuts along the way and just play around with calories. But I've learned that my body does respond as long as I put in the effort and manage my nutrition so I'm confident now that I can be in control of my body. |
