Let's raise a toast to the toasted sandwich!
Jump to: Newest in thread
Well I may be late to the party but I've just discovered those little bags you put in your toaster to make toasted sandwiches and I'm giddy with excitement!
So tell me, what's your favourite filling? And how do you cook yours?

I like left over chicken and salsa with a little bit of cheese or bacon, onion and a little bit of ketchup
We use our sandwich maker a lot. As it seals the sides, we can put just about anything inside and we have, the northerner in me says anything can go between two slices of bread |

One of the best festival breakfasts I had was a cheese and onion toasted sandwich from one of those bags, there was a van doing them, after that I sought them out! |

"Mmmm. Grated cheese, carrot and branston.
Carrot, carrot and cheese, are you mad.
Try it it’s delicious although your combo comes a close second "
I’m adventurous I’ll give it a go, carrot and cheese toasty today, anal with a delivery driver called Dave tomorrow. |

"I just made chilli-chicken and cheese toasties, but I make them on a George Foreman grill."
It’s good for that, we use it to make quesadillas, a quick easy lunch and toppings can be so varied as to what we have in the fridge and fits between two tortillas |

"Cheese and ham.
Though I'm unhealthy and slather the outside in butter and do them in a frying pan, rather than the sensible toaster bag thingy. "
Just read a toasted sandwich hack...use mayo on the outside rather than butter and you get a crispier crust |

You know you buy kitchen gadgets use them a bit and then forget about them in a cupboard?
This thread has totally reminded me I have a panini press, which is ideal for toasties. Might have to dig it out! |

Toasted sandwiches; medium hot pan with 1/2 tsp of veg oil, white thick cut slices with mayonnaise spread on the outer toasting sides: this helps turn them lovely even golden colour, cheese of choice: I prefer gouda or hard cheeses, thinly sliced ham as an option but not necessary, olives finely sliced de-seeded ones, 1-2 sundries toms also finely sliced. The two plain sides together with filling inside, into pan medium heat and turn after 2ish minutes until golden each side. Serve with rocket or lettuce of choice.
