"They are sexy on the right man though, especially when leading him to the bedroom after a seductive dinner "
This. 100%. Also useful to tie his wrists together if I don’t have any chains to hand. |

Got to love a tie in the right circumstances.... the little ‘let me adjust that for you‘ fingers just teasing along the torso, pulling them in for a kiss, leading them to somewhere a little more comfortable, tracing it lightly down your body and finally a readily available wrist tie or blindfold ..... so many reasons |

"A friend thought it could work as a makeshift blindfold too.
Ties are very versatile "
I can see the benefits outweigh the discomfort of suffocation. |

Ties:
They were a rich man's way of saying I am set apart from the unfortunate.
That is why you would often see a rich man using a tie to hang himself, it was the ultimate statement.

That's deep Huey. For some reason I want to try if the tie can handle my weight. Would need to test it before I embarrass myself. |

"Its a good way to get your crush up close as you fumble and say you need help to tie it. Works well with stocks and dicky bows. "

Originally OP, for the practicalities of keeping warm, then later, for affiliation, status and fashion.
Check your collar size if it's uncomfortable.
There's nothing better than a well tied tie, upon a quality crisp shirt, to focus the eye. Mesmerising |

"When and why did men start wearing ties? What is the point of them? They are uncomfortable and they dangle in my soup.
Discuss.
"
Saves putting a collar and lead on as it does the same job
They are sexy though I must admit |

"Ties are essential attire for a suit. Don't like suit without the tie look. It looks unfinished and sloppy. "
I agree. My previous job required a suit but not a tie! I still wore my tie as it didn't feel right without it. |

Agreed. Not that I have many opportunities to wear one, but I don't feel right in a suit without a tie.
Never been restrained with one yet, though |

Thanks Kitten
I try to avoid ties when wearing suits because its uncomfortable. You are right the collar size is a factor. I do struggle to find the shirt to fit me. If I went for the right collersize the shirt would be too loose. I prefer it to be fitted which makes the coller size slightly smaller. Dont want to pay a tailor to make my shirts. |

If your tie is uncomfortable you’re doing it wrong, or wearing a shirt with too small a collar.
I’m not missing wearing one at home, but I always do to the office - it’s a great way to make a statement, and the ladies seem to like it. |

"I read recently they are a sign of oppression. Hence the term ‘wage slave’.
I have some nice ones, can’t remember when I last wore them though and hope I never will again."
They're more a symbol of being in service I think... |

"I love ties. Great way to restrain "
it’s one of my favourite restraints, if not the favourite. A nice soft Italian silk tie. She’s pushed up against the wall, both her hands in one of mine above her head, the tie comes off and is tied around the wrists while enjoying lots of eye contact and kissing. She’s then on a little lead. It’s took years to perfect these moves , I really hope they don’t disappear |

"Do you think the ritual of putting on a tie puts a chap into a slightly different frame of mind? Like symbolically separating "free" time from work?"
Reminds me of school so yes. |
